How come there isn't a Military-focused Enclave?

So, I'm rather surprised that such an opportunity was passed up - Enclaves being independent political entities representing the many trope-based galactic entities that can reasonably stand to be independent. We have independent trading corporations, enclaves of scientists, and - curiously - artists armed to the teeth. But isn't rather odd that we don't have independent quasi/military organizations? It's a rather large gap in the coverage, as Traders assist with resources, Curators with research and Artists with influence/happiness, which leaves only the military realm untouched.

Obviously, a military-focused enclave would fill in that gap nicely - an enclave that can provide so and so passive bonus, unique units types and perhaps generals/admirals in the same vein as curator scientists in exchange for so and so resource. While the first thing that comes to mind to fill in this niche would obviously be Stellaris' equivalent of a Jedi Order, it doesn't necessarily have to; mercenary guilds, warrior societies and etc. can all fill in such a role.

Anyways, what would all of you feel about such an enclave?

They could also do something like that with all of those pirates just sitting out there. Let us pay them to raid an empire/specific star system (i know, like soase), use some of their ships as mercenaries, recruit admirals from them, or buy safe passage through systems they inhabit.

I was planning to write something up about a "ship-builders" enclave, will probably still do that at some point, but I think it would be cool.

Oh, yeah, a shipyard enclave would also be a good candidate.

It was planned, but for some reason, was removed, together with slave traders enclave. You can still find them in game files, so i think Paradox just left it for future updates.

I would love the idea of a mecinary enclave to get alot of ships quickly and temporarily for alot more than you'd spend on them normally but it would be instantaneous and it would really help if your doomstack got rect in a war but you were still sitting on a giant pile of resources

Or make ot so you can "rent" the Enclaves' fleet for X months.
Kinda like the way you get the Federation fleet when you're the boss.

If it's only for X months you have the problem of the time limit running out at the worst possible time
Given that Stellaris isn't exactly the most challenging game ever created at present, I would suggest to you that this is the opposite of a problem.

Excuse me if I don't quite understand how losing most if not all of your military power right as you needed it most due to bad timing is the opposite of a problem.

Atleast if they bailed X amount of time after no money, you'd have an incentive to use them in a strategic way.
Then them running away as you need em the most is more of a strategic fail on your side, than anything else.
(I think that is what Oscot meant)

I would prefer it that way actually, rather than just an expensive ship vendor. Would be more like mercenaries than "Ships'R'us".

Don't think the AI would be that good on being hired to raid an enemy, especially if they would be far away on the other side of the galaxy, unless that would start spawning pirate ships/bases nearby that enemy. My guess is that, unless a mlitary enclave is made, that you could hire their fleet and admiral.
If a millitary enclave is made, you could hire fleet, admiral, something like an effect that boosts your weapon dmg or armour/shields for a duration.
Maybe buy blueprints for better weapons? That there's some unique weapon models only they have that you can buy and gives you a boost in the early/mid game to your navy.

If it's only for a set amount of time without an ability to renew the contract a situation like this could happen

You've hired a fleet for 12 months for a war but that war gets drug out for alot longer than you would have predicted when one of their friend joins late in the war and just as their fleet goes to engage yours in combat yours times out and leaves you undefended

Yup, that is what I meant by using them in a strategic way.
I dont want them to be a permanent fleet bolster, but more of a "we need more ship for the final push", or "these guys can whop the small vassal fleet while I take on the AE oposite it" kinda feel.
And they would not bail if you kept them paid ;) (should be fairly expensive thou)

My guess is that the Military and Slave Trading guilds weren't "axed." Paradox just didn't have time to finish them, just like they didn't have time to finish the events associated with War in Heaven. I'm sure we'll see additional enclaves at some point in the future.
