How can so many major game aspects be broken?

The problem with that argument is that Rotten Tomatoes user scores aren't any good as a proxy for general viewer sentiment; self-selected polls don't work because who shows up for them isn't a representative sample.

The Cinemascore for TLJ, again, was just fine.

Edit: this is similar to one of the debates we see in gaming all the time; is it more important to get good general scores, or to satisfy the hardcore fans of a game (series, developer, brand, etc.)? You can make a serious case that the latter are more important because they drive the debate even if there are few of them. Same thing in politics; sometimes parties support really unpopular policies because a large enough faction in their coalition really want the policy, even if most people are hostile to the policy. Dunno if this is relevant to Stellaris; the LeGuin changes don't strike me as having much to do with this concept.

Edit again: I've got no interest in relitigating the merits of TLJ, mind. Just pointing out that tendentious use of weak statistics is bad, particularly when used to support a personally preferred narrative.

It still killed the franchise since Solo lost money and Disney cancelled a future trilogy by Rian Johnson and some Anthology movies. So yeah, I'm not to convinced about CinemaScore and believe a lot more in sites with the potential of review bombing.

In which universe did that happen? TLJ got good reviews in this one. "Universal Acclaim" on Metacritic, last I checked.

Sure, it upset some fanboys , but that isn't the same thing.

Edit: that's not actually harmful to your argument since it doesn't rely on reviews per se, but on the opinion of a particular class of consumers.

Actually you're wrong. It got great reviews from the professional reviewers (for a variety of political/economic/other reasons) while getting horrendous reviews from the actual audiences and fan base. To use your own example of metacritic.

https://www.metacritic.com/movie/star-wars-episode-viii---the-last-jedi

85/100 professional critic review score.

4.5/10 audience user score.

I guess you are correct on the point that when I said "reviews" I should have specified I was talking about normal fans that saw the movie, not corporate reviewers.

Yeah, so good that more than half of the fanbase hates it.

Pro tip for you, that's *not* what a good movie do.

I mean if you hang around online in spaces where people have flocked together specifically to complain about the movie, then maybe the majority of people there will have a negative opinion? Not sure that holds for audiences as a whole, or "casual" Star Wars fans.

Regardless, this is super off topic, and I was being tongue-in-cheek

One random bug I have been getting since 2.2* has been the fact that some Empires spawn without a name. I have no idea why, and it is quite frustrating from an aesthetic viewpoint.

Weird. What does that look like?

On a similar note, does anyone else get annoyed by the names and symbols for empires at the galactic rim sometimes being pushed off the side of the galaxy for some reason? Like the border doesn't stop at the edge and so the name floats out there in the void with no background.
