i have the smith, but i can only make new items there. How can i upgrade his armor? i am in act II
How can i upgrade Bariks armor?

Behind the smith are a number of anvils in a semicircle. You should be able to click them (indeed, hitting tab should show a clickable icon above them) and that'll bring up your inventory to select the items you want to upgrade.
