How can I play as Holland ?

Just need a quick piece of advice. I've never played the Netherlands before and I fancy starting a new game with them, but I've always played countries in the GC before. Is there a country I could go in GC that will have an event to become the Netherlands or will I have to start with a later scenario? If so how does this work (i.e. with gaining independance from Spain etc)?

After a certain point of time, you can, AFAIK...
....release Holland as a vassal!!! Or you can go Japan, wait until Holland forms. In both of these cases, switch to Holland.
Or you can use Gelre/Friesland and become Holland... I think.

No, you can't use any Dutch minor to become the Netherlands in an unmodified Grand Campaign. But you can edit in an event like this one:

You can also play Brabant and then become the Netherlands in EP. EP has more historical events and more leaders for the Netherlands than any other mod. There's a link to in my signature.
