How can I make the Unlimited Time Patch work?

I've downloaded a no time limit patch, but I can't make it work.
I've extracted the EU2UnlimitedPatch.exe into the game directory, but when I try to run it a message says
"EU2.exe read succesful...
EU2.exe does not match!"

Could someone please give me a hand?

The original one. This is the first patch I've tried to install, though I've been playing EU2 for a while.

Install 1.08 and the latest beta...

Yes, I discovered this site quite recently, and I didn't know about all the patches!!
Can I install 1.08 without having installed any others before? (I'm not too good with computers , so I don't know much about patch installing)

When the patches are downloaded and installed you're free to apply the time-limitpatch...
