How can I keep the Christian flag when playing as a Muslim ruler?

I see they kept the Muslim squares in the GoT mod so I was wondering can it be done in the vanilla?
Because the generic and constantly changing flags of Muslims are slowly getting on my nerves and keep killing the immersion of it.

I would appreciate any help guys :)

I believe you have to edit the line "has_coa_on_barony_only = no" and change it to "yes." I'm not entirely positive, though.

I'm also hoping Paradox will change the Muslim COAs to something better than just random swords, crescents, and stars.

The problem with doing that is that there is a strong proscription in Islam against graven images. You don't have a lot of Muslims running around with gryphons and dragons on their banners because it's construed with polytheism or lesser "shirk".

I don't mind the random permutations of the Muslim CoA. The CoA in the game are meant for Christian Rulers when you look at all the designs. What they can probably do is make a separate flag gfx for the muslim religion group, but I think that would be too much work. But I think they should at least make a specific CoA for certain titles, like k_egypt, k_persua, k_maurentania, etc.

Maybe you should check the flag of Muslim Persia, sultanates which claim authority of Saladin, Kurds, Indian Muslims, Seljuks and some Turkish sultanates which used wolves as their banner. While Shiias used lion as the symbol of Ali.

The Shirk thing is present only in greater influence of Arabs of AP and some Sub-Saharan Muslims.

I'd just be happy with a CoA pack that gave a bit of consistency to it all, rather than generic flags for empires that are identical to those of baronies or petty dynasties...

Hence the "why you dont see a lot" not "you dont see any." You can mention a lot of powerful dynasties who can get away with it because they're politically powerful. Also Im confused by some of your examples - Rashidun caliphate just had a black flag, I thought. And the Ayyubids used a plain yellow banner.

Not just the powerful dynasties used fancy flags, you just have to look at their banners. But as far as my recollections from of Sunday school go the Rashiduns used a black flag with a golden/white sun with shahadah written in center of it. It IS the only proper "Islamic flag" and ironically probably the symbol under which first Muslims fought under. The crescent moon and star are Turkish symbols which were later adopted by Muslims as religious flag thanks to the Ottoman Caliphate, while Muslims which didn't live under Turks or in their sphere of influence kept more or less original interpretations of Islamic banner which did have some influence on their national flags.
