Is there a way to merge a one-way 2 lane road into a two-way 4 lane road without creating a junction which effects the opposite lane? It really seems unnecessary why a junction would be required in the below scenario but I can't find a way to do it.
only way is by dividing the roads, as in 2, 2 lane one ways very close to each other. You could use the Some Roads mod if you want it to be 2 lane highways.
Thanks. So does it mean that I wasn't missing that option but the vanilla CS itself doesn't allow me to do this? Is there any place I can raise this suggestion?
There is a mod called Traffic Manager that let you change which way vehicles are allowed to turn and remove traffic lights (among other things). You still get the full intersection, so it's not quite what you want, but you can prevent cars from turning right and therefor cross the street. I.e, you can get the flow you want, just not the looks
Hopefully they give us more intersection types one of these days.
This is what I created with the Traffic Manager mod. In this case cars leaving the six-lane road can only turn right which is the same for cars that what to get on to this road. This means that no car will cross the six-lane road to turn-left or to go straight on from the smaller roads. It doesn't have the appropriate looks, but it functions correctly.
