One of my vassal kings had the brilliant (i.e. stupid) idea of appointing an antipope. This is dangeroulsy lowering the Christian level of legitimacy. This antipope is living in a kingdom out of my empire, so how can I depose him?

Is he your vassal king or not? You could try pressing the antipope's claim and getting rid of it that way. If it's another realm, declare anti-king war, then no antipopes for some number of years. I think killing an antipope also gets rid of them, but usually the proper-upper will just make another right away upon antipope death.

The legitimate Pope is my vassal. I'm the Emperor of Francia and the king of Burgundy (my vassal) appointed an antipope...in Scotland!!!o_O:confused::eek: That means I cannot (because I don't want) to press the antipope's claim. What do you mean by an anti-king war?

make the anti pope your vassal, by whatever means you can think of, then I think you either murder the anti pope or revoke his bishopric, or just wait until he dies.

It's been a while since I had to deal with a vassal's anti pope but what I remember the most is that I had to become his liege lord before the anti papacy eventually ended. Though TBH, the anti pope stuff has always been a little buggy

Interesting. Sadly, that means I have to conquer a full foreign kingdom, control the county in which the guy has its bishopric and then unland him. I will need decades to do that :(
Huh? Is the king your vassal or not? You can just retract the vassalage for -5 vassal opinion (free if you have imperial administration) and -20 opinion with the king. Or you can just revoke his kingdom if you have religious title revocation.

If he's not your vassal just declare a war to depose antipope.
