So far I've been playing on default epidemic settings. It doesn't seem that bad TBH, although I have a tendency to have lots of children and like using hunting focus, so that may be why.
I see lots of complaints on the forum about the death rate, so I'm afraid that changing the setting to high might make it intolerable. Although, I certainly wouldn't mind a walking-dead like scenario ~
