Is this game one that is run on an older patch?
I mean shouldn't the Byzantines have their new special unique government that you can't get out of? Why does it have elective?

In my most recent campaign I was able to simply conquer the Byzantines by marrying a Greek Princess and having the son press the claim against a Basilissa.
