I'm used to in EU you move the slider over, gain stability slowly. But in this game, as time progresses, gaining stability via sacrifices just gets more and more expensive.

So I'm curious, how exactly are sacrifices priced? Is it relative to income, provinces, what?

In both EU3 and EUR, stability costs are added from provinces (or population? I forget) and other modifiers - you'll notice in EU3 that it takes longer to raise your stability when you have a larger country, the same thing is happening here. The only difference in EUR is that you pay the full amount in a single lump sum rather than paying it over a period of time with the monthly budget.

Pop size, culture and religion all play a role. Pretty much the same as EU3

-3 to +1 all costs the same it doubles for +2 and +3

As you don't have census taxes but instead get your income smoothly, a massive improvment from EU3 IMHO, you pay for your stablity in a lump sum.

If you want to fight A LOT of wars without CBs, say you want to unify Gual, then one option is to roll around at -2 stab wait till you have the cash to go up a level, DOW someone else and suffer a -4 stab hit and then buy your stab back up to -2.

Likewise at the begining of a game where you want to pass a lot of laws, with their stab hits, you should hover between 1 and 0 stab. Don't waste the money boosting your stab up to 2.

Actually it is far simpler than that.

Each province of the state religion cost you five and each province of other religions cost you six.

This is modified by your religious tech level and your infamy.

In a republic it is also modified when the religious faction or the populist faction is in power and by the finesse of the censors. In a monarchy it is only modified by the interior ministers finesse.
