AI picks from historical ideas in order but tries to balance out the groups, so if it goes like DIP - MIL - MIL - ADM - ADM it will choose DIP - MIL - ADM - MIL - ADM.

I wish they got rid of most prescripted choices of idea groups and instead relied on some clever scripting using modifiers, for the rare occasions of seeing Ireland or Morocco being early colonizers.

That's the plan, I just need time to implement and properly test it. Won't be in 1.8 unfortunately, but quite possibly next major patch.

I think that, for me at least, is the most underrated change to come. Depending on how deep the scripting goes, dynamic idea groups will keep us guessing as to who to fight. Who knows, I might actually have to worry about that English stack landing on my shores if they've won the HYW and took offensive/defensive as their 1st choice...

Awesome, thanks for responding :) So when picking ideas from a historical set when AI balances out the groups it takes an idea group of other type (MIL, ADM, DIP) from the list or randomly?

I mean if we have Aragon:

Wouldnt changing the place on humanist and aristocracy prevent Poland from imploding every single time they either integrate Lithuania or create the commonwealth? Would also give the player more than ~50 years to conquer all of Poland before the pesky 100% coring cost. Sure, 100% coring cost for a country that is about as big as Georgia is fine. But the entire PLC with 100% coring cost is just insane.

Yes. When I play Poland I take Humanism first every time.
