How about ship models with "Enigmatic" flavour?

Have you ever played a game of Stellaris, the year is 2400+, you out-tech everyone else in the galaxy by a huge margin, sitting on your ringworlds, literally swimming in resources, and thought to yourself "Damn, I wish my ships looked high tech and enigmatic to fit my RP style of being a Fallen Empire wannabe"? I did and I think it would be great if we could transform our ship models to a more advanced version somewhere late-game. Maybe it could be a special project, bonus for certain ascension perks such as "Galactic Wonders" or "Enigmatic Engineering"? Or do it automaticaly once certain technologies have been discovered such as Dark Matter Reactors, etc. Definitely not a gameplay changer, but would add some flavour and feeling of "being a unique special snowflake". Obviously, Paradox would not do it for free but as part of future expansion, DLC, maybe? Mowing down enemy fleets with your 10k battleships like it's nothing is fun. But feels even better if your ships look like something from another galaxy.

maybe enigmatic engineering could change the generic ship models to FE ship models. they only have 3 hull sizes though, and those don't match the 5 player shipsizes. i think their battlecruisers have more slots than generic battleships and their escorts are basically halfway between destroyers and cruisers.

but i guess that could actually be a part of the perk? it could just add those hulls instead of replacing the existing ones. so if you want you can also disband your old ships and rebuild a fleet of FE- like battlecruisers & escorts.

Battlecruisers have 2 X-size slots, so that would be an instant no-brainer every game. Bit too strong.

But, I think it would be nice if Enigmatic Engineering made it impossible to see your ships' modules when clicking on them. That would be a pretty sweet change, at least for multiplayer. Shiny new models I could take or leave.

EDIT: Apparently I'm wrong, they don't get two XL slots anymore. I could've sworn they used to though.

there is a solution: tie in enigmatic engineering and stronger hulls with fallen empire decadence mechanics

taking changes your empire to something akin to awoken empire with all your techs and APs incorporated, opening a new set of techs, traditions and APs

that way you actually have a new game late-game that would add at least 2-300 years (provided lag would be bearable) where you need to keep your empire from crumbling like the 40k Eldar or the Roman Empire IRL

it would require a full expansion to do, but imo it would be beautiful
