Paradox Interactive,

Sorry for my poor English.

It's great that I, actually "we", our Chinese players, hear that a new Paradox game at the period of Rome. But some say that we cannot build our own China before 1419. It is quite a pity.

Actually, asking an European (or American?) company to make a game for Oriental world is just like a joke. We believe that Paradox do not want to fight with PRC government after the forbbiden of HoI. However, our government only cares about the time after 1839. That's why The Romance of Three Kingdoms of KOEI is legally played in China.

In history of East Asia, there's not peace at most time. China was not unified all the time after 221 B.C.E.. For example, the "China" before Qin, the era between Fall of Han and Rise of Tang and the era between Fall of Tang and the Reconquista of Ming. China was divied into some states. It would be quite interesting if it was on an EU-like game.

Frankly, we have disappointed by the company of our countries. So, we hope that Paradox can consider the Far East frontier. Before that, please do your best in EU: Rome. We are expecting your great job!

Considering how moddable EUIII is, I would bet there could be a total conversion mod with the map to the East.

Personally, I would like to see a more detailed map of Japan or China with the rest of the world PTI.

Hi, i am Spanish, played Three Kingdoms games and enjoyed the book. I would like a Paradox RO3K game... with historical events of, course. Or Shu surely would not form :(

So western player don't ignore the east ... it is only western enterprises who do it :( Sadly, RO3K is not traslated to spanish :( Luckily, I understand English :D

A shame PCR baning of HOI. I don't understand why they did it, because Communist China is not offended in that game i think

Not going to happen, because there isn't enough of a financial incentive. Paradox's two biggest markets are Europe and North America, in that order. And Americans and Europeans are far more interested in European history.

It's a pity, because I would like to see the Paradox touch applied to something extra-European.

I'd purchase a rise of the three kingdoms game. I wouldn't say that games based in ancient China are not salable, in fact, there are a lot of movies and such that perform very well using the setting. I'm assuming Paradox doesn't just develop games for the money, they'd also like to be gratified by their work, for art's sake, otherwise, they'd just build a FPS series.

I would have to say Chinese and Japanese history enthusiasts have grown in the last few years by quite a large margin. Might not be quite up their with those interested in European history, but it's a very second close.

I am assuming Paradox hasn't only because the people working there aren't familiar with those areas. However, the best way to get familiar is to try and create something historic for that area...and doing the research.

I do find Chinese history interesting and I played a few games as the Nationalists in HoI II. Never played China though in Vicky or EU, they are too much of an uber-power there. And I'd have to say, I wouldn't buy an all-Chinese game, I like variety.

But I would love to see China or at least India in some way in EU:Rome, at the very least as trading partners! Those early voyages across the Silk Road and the Indian Ocean and the ancient contacts between a "European" power and Asia, that's fascinating stuff!

No, it really isn't anywhere near close. You only need to look at sales figures for Europe-centered strategy games vs. Asian ones (like Koei's).

There's nothing unusual about this. People are naturally more interested in their own history. The endless parade of games where you conquer Europe do get old, though.

Paradox seems to take a certain amount of pride in making eurocentric games. Europa Universalis? The "speed bumps" remark? The total neglect of anything that isn't European? Good games, but narrow...

you should ask Chinese companies to create those games... too bad they only make lousy second rate MMORPGs. I'd like to see one on the warring states, would be kinda akin to EU games.

CCP banning HOI was hardly surprising, since in that game fighting the japs from start was prolly one of the quickest way to die... I have to say though, HOI did a lousy job with CCP leaders/generals.

That's like comparing apples and oranges because what gets ported here are strategy games for PC (paradox) and stragetgy games for console (Koei). Two different audiances.

FE: Age of Empires: Age of Kings did not sell well (it's handheld, but in this case closer to console anaology) compared to it's PC versions.

You bring a legal translated copy of RoT3K, allow for modding, and do atleast some advertising and you'll see it sell.

It's possible, but I doubt it. Since neither of us has any evidence I guess we'll just have to disagree. :)

Still, I'm continually dumbfounded by the fact that Koei chooses to translate strategy games for console and not PC; AFAIK the games sell better on PC in Japan and China.
