It's is already in the game believe. Just compare European provinces BT (Hansa, wtf?) and Russia's. So is the trade. Novgorod is basically useless trade node after Pdx removed demand-supply system. Fur sucks these days.

Novgorod is amazing, you just have to conquer eastward. You can steer all of Asia's trade back to Novgorod, though you will have to westernize to take advantage of trade companies. to properly utilize all those trade nodes.

Its just a pity that Novgorod's NIs are fairly mediocre... I am tempted to start a Novgorod game with the NIs switched out with Colonial NIs which are basically Novgorod NIs on steroids.

:/ my penpal is from Yalta in the Crimea and what she has told me is enough i feel i have business to know, it is not my decision what happens to people who are 100% capable of deciding their fate for themself.

i have no right to comment on what putin does or doesnt do as long as he is not doing something heinous and unspeakable to universal ethical standard (like say, nuking someone, or sacrificing children in mass blood baths.

I admire some of his policy steps and don't agree with others, on a personal individual level due to my own beliefs and opinions. i however, do not assert that MY opinion should have ANY matter whatsoever on HIS actions as the head of a state I am not PART of, against/for a state/ethnicity i am ALSO not part of...

if putin tried to annex Iceland... I would have a right to say my thoughts, but that is just a silly thing. No one wants our fish, even denmark anymore :p

Second this. Novgorod has not a bad idea set, but not for the given geography

Oh, Crimean discussion. That's bound to go civil.

Just ignore it.

This. Novgorod actually starts out with decent NIs but then it goes full retard with nav tradition, light ships, and privateering bonuses that Novgorod simply does not need. Its like Paradox thinks that Novgorod would expand westward into Scandanavia when that makes absolutly no sense for them given how the trade nodes are set up. If they crush Russia then they are going to want to expand eastward into the Steppes and China and become a land-based trade power while having dozens of merchants with trade companies. Colonial NIs are absolutly perfect for that.

During my last game, which was interrupted by patch, I had 22-25 of trade value in Novgorod by 1610s (as Novgorod), while Hansa had ~40, but I ain't opened Samarkand yet, so I had to use 1 trader at Archangelsk to collect, and I ain't started trade Trade ideas, so, I believe, it is still pretty decent.
Also, I find it pretty ridiculous, that ottomans has disciple bonus, while Russia doesn't. Since it rather goes against of what I know about Russia-ottos wars

Indeed it was much different pre-patch because fur as one of the most highly priced trade good in the game. That's not the case in 1.8. Starting price is less than iron and copper. Price increase events begin later than for other goods.

Well, if they got a Siberian frontier instead of light ships etc, it would be much-much better

Novgorod has 0,5 yearly republic tradition increase NI, so it allows to constantly "abuse" reelections without drastic decrease of tradition. So from time to time you will have godlike rulers..

Yeah, it is. Unfortunately. Orthodox does need to be buffed.

-33% Tax Income
You get +33% Manpower, -3 Revolt Risk, and -33% Local Tax in true faith provinces. Revolt risk in true faith is almost useless. Manpower and Local Tax are only relevant resources in the early game, by late game you are usually drowning in both. Overall, the bonuses are bad compared, to, say, Catholicism, Protestantisim, and Reformed which can either improve your military, save monarch points, provide tangible bonuses, or a combination of the three.
Arguably the only useful resource in game, after 1550 is monarch power so I don`t see your point. -RR saves you the need to decrease was exhaustion or pick innovative early. Conversion power saves you the need to pick Religious/Tolerance. In sum, you can take the ideas you would not normally pick early, and gain advantage.

Protestantism is not very powerful, idea discount is nice, but that aside from that, it gives you next to nothing. Kuria is something everyone Catholic shares, so if you can control it consistently, you already won, you don`t really need it. Reformed is somewhat nice, and Muslims are good, I`ll give you that, but I`m fine with Muslims being slightly better, they are not in as good of a position.

Personally I like Orthodox the way it is. Maybe reduce the tax malus to -10%, and that would be it.
