Some updates make new various modifiers like fort maintenance -10, fire damage +10, development cost -5. So now, it is time to reconsider adviser types?
This is my proposal of additional advisers.
ADM category : institution spread +10% development cost -5%
DIP category: sailors +10% chance to capture enemy ships +2%
MIL category : fort maintenance -10% land movement speed +10%

And... bump. I agree having more adviser types would be good - even more types than the ones suggested above. The existing types are getting a bit boring.
Another point to consider: higher adviser ranks giving also bigger bonuses instead of just the 1/2/3 points.

I tend to agree. Would be cool if the higher education facilities in your country made it more likely to get an advisor of a specific type for less money than a pesky foreigner.

Well, maybe the tax one was a bad example, but it could work for others. Wouldn't you pay more for a bit higher missionary str or army moral?

With the Cossacks DLC advisors are broken somehow anyways. They were unbalanced before but now most of them are outright useless.

Like a +10% tax advisors costs you more money to maintain than what you get out of him. You are paying more money to sustain an advisor that is meant to make you more money. Somewhat of a paradox there. I quess he is slightly cheaper than other advisors but honestly, you want monarch points or other effects and not money when you recruit an advisor. This gets even worse with higher level advisors. A tier 3 advisor can never generate enough money to even pay for himself which makes him pretty much useless in most occasions.

But the biggest issue is to rework advisors that came with the Cossacks DLC where the most useful advisors (Inquisitor, Master of Mint and Diplomat) became not only always availabe (no more RNG) but are also half priced and always on the highest affordable tier. I now completely ignore every "normal" advisor for admin and diplo because those estate spawned once are just superior in every possible way.

This renders a decision on which random advisor I should take pretty much useless. It's either Theologian, Inquisitor, Master of Mint or Diplomat.


Soooo, yes. New advisors would be nice but I would still stick to the vastly more powerful estate advisors. If Paradox ever focuses on advisors again (no, drawing more portraits for every ethnic group on the world is not meant here...) then they not only have to rebalance their effects but also have to find a balance between estate spawned advisors and normal ones.

This is more likely to happen if it is posted in the suggestions forum, and also if you give possible names for the advisors (i.e. Inquisitor, Missionary, etc) instead of only the modifier.

The advisors feature in EU3 were so much more... fun, I guess. More types, as well.
Now it's just the same thing, every time. Unless you're reaching for an alliance (via having a statesman), or trying to get claims on someone that has full-espionage, you'll always want a diplomat, for AE cooldown. So that's pretty much who's in there, 95% of the time for me.

ADM? Well, you get 3 from the standard estates, so you just rotate them. Hopefully keeping master of mint longer, of you have inflation... and inquisitor if you need to convert.

MIL? Whatever is most helpful, and within your budget. Manpower? Fine. Fighting the Ottomans? Commandant.

Blah, so boring. The only real reason advisors are in the game, is that you're basically buying MP, each month. The whole concept of actually having someone who's particularly skilled in your court, and making a significant impact on your realm... that's gone.

The advisors feature in EU3 were so much more... fun, I guess. More types, as well.
Now it's just the same thing, every time. Unless you're reaching for an alliance (via having a statesman), or trying to get claims on someone that has full-espionage, you'll always want a diplomat, for AE cooldown. So that's pretty much who's in there, 95% of the time for me.

ADM? Well, you get 3 from the standard estates, so you just rotate them. Hopefully keeping master of mint longer, of you have inflation... and inquisitor if you need to convert.

MIL? Whatever is most helpful, and within your budget. Manpower? Fine. Fighting the Ottomans? Commandant.

Well, OK. But you only do 2 things in this game: 1) Build large nation quickly (AKA blobbing), and 2) Coalition management

One causes the other, while the other prevents the other. They're linked. AE cooldown is one of the main things you need to get as much of as possible, so you can continue expanding. That is effected by your 'improve relations' modifier, visible right under the 'dip rep' number. So if you don't want to have a diplomat (almost all the time, occasional exceptions)... then you're just not doing your job (which is blobbing), as efficiently as possible.
