All I want is a game manual, (which has correct information of course) a CD containing the game, a map of the world and all provinces, with perhaps little icons to show resources or some other stats, and a foldable document which outlines unit types, their stats, technologies and what they do, and some other nifty information we need to look at very often. Please!

I might sound a bit jaded to some of you so forgive me if I do.
Does anyone here remember what happened with the CIVIII limited special edition? They promised extra scenarios, designer's notes on the game, a video of making of CIVIII. What I ended up getting was a lame video about the game, a piece of paper from the designers that pretty much said welcome to CIVIII hope you have fun with it, and no extra scenarios.
I'll never buy a game in the form of limited edition again as it is clearly a greedy ploy by companies to get more money out of you.
Again I apologize in advance for sounding mean but fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.![]()
Even then, you still get a crappy game, so this is a mood point anywayOriginally posted by Tagsatzung
Let's play the alternate history game. If Civ 3 special edition had included...
-A CD full of scenarios and mods dealing with Ancient Mesopotamia, the future and everything in between.
- A 100-page booklet of designer's notes covering everything from the tedium of programming to the office party celebrating the game's release.
-A making of video spread across two cds that doesn't just cover the game's development but also traces the history of the Civ series and it's influences.
...would you still be skeptical towards limited editions of games?

I try to buy my games in as non-limited-edition versions as possible, especially preferred are those "best buy" ones that are in a DVD-box. I don't need any maps, tech trees or unit graph printed on paper for me, if they can be shown in-game. I was also really pleased to find a copy of Europa Universalis which didn't even have a printed manual, only a manual.pdf. I liked the low price better than all those extra goodies.
