Every game as king it feels like the entire world is against you and family makes it worse cause they are just more definite enemies...brothers are great for powerful factions against your throne...uncles are almost always part of a faction trying to impose seniority or elective

Well, it seems ok to me, it's obvious that your family want to take your place as king, or at least a chance to. Just give them lower titles (barony or county under others dukes) and they'll stop bothering you.

I generally marry all my sons out to other countries, once they do so you lose any penalties for them being unlanded, and if you marry normally (not matrilineally) then you often will end up with a few claimants for that title of your dynasty. Occasionally they'll plot against you from outside the borders, but since they are foreigners this rarely works.

I like to bury my brothers under several levels of vassals: if I land him, it's most often in the form of a barony under a county that's under a duke (who's possibly under a king)

I think a better mechanic would be to have characters have a hidden Family Loyalty/Personal Ambition stat that determines whether they actively support/are nuetral/actively undermine your reign. I think the frustration is that there are certainly example of brothers working together, not just the machinations of the Henrys/Richards/Geoffreys/Johns that the Plantagenets so kindly gave us.

My solution is feudal elective. I can choose the son who is the best as heir and they are generally happier ;) After a few feasts and the tournament, everyone will vote your ideal successor.

The point the OP is trying to make, I think, is that there should be strongest family ties between very close relatives.

It's fair to expect a distant cousin to try and plot his way to your crown if he's got the claim for it, or for an Uncle to try and "persuade" you to switch to seniority so he has a shot at the throne.
But the brother you grew up with for years? Unless he's a jerk with conflicting traits, or you became rivals via some event, there should be some special respect between the two of you that prevents him jumping on the faction/plot bandwagon at the first opportunity!

Sure, you can keep him happy with gold and titles, or make sure he's harmless by dumping him in a minor holding or a church...but it feels a bit unrealistic that this is needed every single time...

Even with quite good relations, brother were turning on brother.

It's not personal, it's business.

On a sidenote: Events could be made if relatives grow up, that would have a decent chance to trigger, which would give that particular relative either a personal vendetta or strong loyalties, opening and closing certain options.

A Dynasty DLC would be great. Making members of the same dynasty work toegether against other dynasties, finally making use of the dynastic prestige etc. But as thing stand right now the Republic may very well be the last DLC ever.

As long as you use elective and have a big enough realm family members are great vassals.

Brothers seem to not care if their brother is elected Emperor while they are only a puny count. Same applies to the children of the old monarch in case you switched to another branch of the family.

On succession there aren't even pretenders listed. Easy times :D

I believe it was CKII+ (or one of the auxiliary mods connected to it) that gave close family members a relationship boost. I liked that; it's enough to be realistic and offset some of the unfairness of you being alone against your whole family but not enough to remove the whole family betrayal aspect from the game entirely.

I like the brother-versus-brother Civil Wars or the family politics when you have to unravel the intrigues of 10 aunts and uncles and all your resultant cousins because your grandfather was a productive old pervert. Games that play out like Baratheon Brothers' Family Dinners can have quite a charm to them.

I can't count the instances in real life anymore in which family members did betray each other when there was a pie to share, especially when it came to inheritance of houses or lots of money.
Though ususally the evil ones are the ones who already have enough. Rich, greedy and envious get along very well. Its really working like in the stories we're told since hundreds and thousands of years.

Not only is there the ambition/jealousy of the sibling/uncle relative - there are also other people influencing them. Spouses whispering in your brother's ear (so their kids inherit more etc.) uncles influencing their sons, telling them they deserve more, all kinds of stuff like that. I think that the CKII+ mod does a decent job of having to keep an eye on your family, keep the legitimate pretenders (that looks weird, but you know what I mean) happy but weak. But I like that aspect of the game. What would you do during those years of peace if you didn't have to keep an eye on your bastard brother?

Mind you, I've yet to get myself an empire, and I can imagine that the webs and layers of family and people vying for the top spot in that case is pretty complicated.

I have to agree. I have seen three brothers be best friends for decades, but when their dad passed away they fought tooth and nail for the contents of his trailer. I saw two sisters spend every day with each other visiting, but when their wealthy aunt passed they started and all out family war and demanded that we all take sides. Brutal.
