The 4x4 limit just seems really arbitrary. Even if the devs don't ever want to consider adding depth to the zoning area, I really can't see why longer lot sizes (along the road, think 4x5, 4x6, etc.) aren't a possibility, as they would work entirely within the game's existing mechanics. Right now, all the zoned high-rises have to fit in a 4x4 area, really limiting their shape (skinny and square-ish). At least the possibility of more elongated lots would allow for a greater variety of building shapes.

I don't think they will be too big compared to factories, for example in this screenshot look at the small white house compared to the stretched out grey house with connected garage and it seems lots will be quite varied in size and the factories and higher density buildings in the background look reasonably scaled in comparison:

Not that I would mind possibilities for even bigger lots though.

The sizes of buildings relative to each other look pretty good from what I've seen. Somewhere one of the devs said that the 4x4 max size was chosen because it worked well with their zoning algorithms for completely filling up the available zone spaces. I would like slightly bigger plots, but a good number of buildings will fit in a 4x4 and be fine.

As for farmland, I always find it weird that a city would be zoning farmland or building farms in the first place. Building silos, mills, feed lots, slaughterhouses, and other related agricultural industries in town would make sense in an area where there is already farmland developed for miles and miles around which would be on the map before you even start playing.

The thing is, though, some of us aren't gonna just build cities. We might want to make towns too, and farmland would be nice to fit in. Also, you might want it for the outskirts of the city, if you have space.

I think one reason that houses are as big as factories is because the houses have a front yard. The factories are right up against the road, but the houses are a little bit away from it. So technically, they are smaller. I'm fine with this size limit, though, we can zone buildings so that they will be smaller than the 4x4 size limit too, so that's good.
