I know this is probably to late now but thought i might as well put it out there. Everyone knows how characters each have relationships with other characters. But what if a lot of your houses characters have a relationship with a lot of another houses characters. Maybe this could form more of a permanent/longer bond between character of the 2 houses that gets passed down through generations(yes this bond can be broken if something really bad happend between the 2 families). This isnt an in depth look at it but the core mechanic of it.

My hope is that something like this will be the result of the character system - there will be families that you are close to, and you should accumulate multiple marriage/children ties over generations, modifiers from current and historical shared interests, results of repeated fosterings between families, and all the other minutiae of character interactions.

Hopefully this sort of dynastic alliance will just sort of drop out the bottom in an organic way. Really just a decent system of kin relationships down both male and female lines would help hugely.

You might want to flesh it out a bit, but I think I understand what you mean. That dynasties can have traditional friends and traditional enemies? I think that is a decent idea; it would remove a lot of the randomness out of diplomacy. So, for some historical examples, I would look at the longstanding link between Scotland and France, between England and Spain, each based on ties of blood and alliance.

Well, nothing should happen in CK2 because that's how it happened historically. Instead, there should be mechanisms in place for you to do things similar to how historical houses had their relationships. But, yeah, cool idea.

One thing I liked in EU3:Rome, contrarily to CK, is that you only had a very limited control over the marriage of your courtiers, as it is supposed to be. Courtiers intermarried without the need of an input by the player.

In CK2, I think you as overlord should have only control on the marriage of your close family members, and I'd like to see courtiers intermarry each other depending on their House relationships, friendships, or personal ambition. Perhaps one option could be that the overlord can either veto or tacitly consent to a marriage.

That said, the option of forcing the wedding of two courtiers, or offering a courtier to marry a friend's daughter as gauge of friendship and alliance, should also be available.

that idea sounds cool. These marriges can be made from love or just for personall ambition to help mpove the courtiers way up. I think you should beable to have a little influence over their decision though

This is one reason why I wanted a Charter of Liberties type of thing, because perhaps at the start you do have the right as soveriegn to push marriages the way you see fit. But, if your vassals pass some sort of Charter of Liberties you lose that right to interfere, which could mean your allies are marrying your enemies and it could throw a wrench into the gears, so to speak.
