Well, I can turn up today and play another session as OE. However, several factors (my persistent connectivity problems, skipped sessions, start of the exam term, somewhat awkward timeframe and that I just plain suck -- in that order) keep the fun return over time invested ratio somewhat unsatisfying, so I would prefer some alternate outcome.
mung, you don't suck. oe is individualy strongest power in the game. we just cough you off guard this time.
game is just starting, until now it was just eating ai-s, now the real challenges begin.
i hope you guys wont give up another campaign.
i mean to give up on 3 games in a row before 17st thats just lame.
with this kind of attitude we will never finish single campaign no matter how much times we start.
lets say todays failure is due to holidays and try next Thursday.
who ever doesnt shows up is simply not eu mp kind of material and should be discarded in any future game attempts..

I've been reading this thread frequently, and I'm sorry how the game turned out. :(

Thanks to Uls for his faithful organization though. I really commend you for that.

The game so far has been great! Why not jump in Thursday as a sub for a few hours? One session wouldn't kill you.

I'll send some PMs around, it's obvious ppl decided to skip because of new year stuff.

as far as I'm concerned the player list is the following one:

*Spain - Duque
*France - Anubisfike (?)
*Austria - Ulschmidt
*England - BGW
*Russia - Grabah
*Sweden - NationalCause
*Ottoman Empire - Rosas (at least to complete the war) (?)

As I'm giving Rosas Netherlands if it's released, we need:

France and Ottoman Empire. If we fail getting subs or new perms, I'd say we wait until february for Therion. Or after we find new people. Whatever it happens first, I'd recommend to play Nappies (1789 scenario) for our thursday sessions.

Yes, we may as well do Nappys for our normal session if we can't continue the campaign.

Uls, have you been in contact with Rosas, Anubisfike, or Therion? Is Therion returning in Feb for sure? Is Rosas or Anubis attending next session? I'm itching to get this show back on the road.

Also, for anyone reading this I'm sure we could use a sub or perhaps a new perm. Even if you can only fill in one session its greatly appreciated. All you need is four free hours and vanilla 1.09.

Edit: If we do play a Nappy Thursday I want Austria. No reason really, just feel like playing something different.

too many casualties!

well, we decided to close this. As I hear there'll be a new campaign in March, I'd say we leave this and let the profs organize one properly.

sorry guys, hope see you around.

PD: Fnuco, thank you for the opportunity, wherever you are, friend.

Its a damn shame really. I was enjoying playing Sweden. :(

I'll be up for perming or subbing other games, now or in the future. PM me or leave me a message on ICQ if you need someone.

I feel sorry for you guys, but, if you dont mind, Uls, what was your Grand Strategy plan for Veneto? Were you going to colonize? :p

Heh, Uls (Austria) wouldn't have been doing much after 1700 I'm sure. I'm confident that by then Austria would have been humbled by one or two major wars.

The Austro-French alliance mauled Spain badly, enough for other powers to take note. Eventually the other powers would have aligned against them, at the very least for one devestating conflict. The outcome will never be known of course.

I will say this. I really enjoyed this short campaign. Maybe I've learned a few things here. I've found grabah to be a trustworthy ally, a man of his word, offering his diplomatic support when I asked it, and always reasonable in our private discussions. I found Uls to be a cunning and confusing diplomat. After every session of conquest he wanted NAPs with 3 nations. I always knew in the back of my mind that he wanted complete domination for Austria, yet he always seemed so light hearted and affable. If I ever play with you again, friend, I'll make sure to keep a very close eye on you. :D Duque, I wish this campaign had continued. The kings of Sweden and Spain may have met victoriously in the center of Germany. :p

Oh the possibilities that will never be realized. On to the next campaign.

Actually, Austria's 18th century generals are pretty good. And with no Prussian leaders to stop them.... And keep in mind Austria would probably still have a huge part of the german-culture provs. IIRC german is the culture with the most MP. I am pretty confident that even if he had lost a few wars, Austria could still beat any of its neighbours in 1750.
