New game people, let's get it on, shall we?

GAME TIME: Thursdays, 22 GMT

ONTIME COOKIE: 0.5% deflation OR 250 ducats (until 1559)/500(1560-1649)/750(1650-1739)/1000(1740-end)

MOD: none, using vanilla standard map.

SCENARIO: 1492 Age of Explorations

GM: Fnuco
co-GM: grabah
Editor: Fnuco
Host: BGW

ROSTER:

England: BGW
France: Fnuco
Spain: Duque
Austria: Uls
Sweden: National_Cause
OE: Mungo
Russia: grabah

RULES:

- Don't make personal attacks on the players. Feel free to make personal attacks on ingame personalities (Henry VIII, Turenne, Columbus, etc.), and on countries in a general sense as long as such attacks are roleplayed.

- Maximum THREE (3) provinces taken from a human in a war per alliance. Non-european provs count as 1/2, TPs count as 1/5, and CoTs as 2 provinces. After 1650 maximum of FIVE (5) provinces can be taken. After 1700, SEVEN (7) provinces, and after 1800 no peace restrictions. Any number of players or alliances that wage war for a common aim (GMs will decide), will be considered as a single alliance, for the purpose of this rule.

- If at -3 stab and -99WS, and at war for 5 years at least, you have to accept next stabhitting offer immediately. This is a vital rule and we will be paying attention for its accomplishment. Only an alliance leader can send a stab hitting peace offer.

- If you chose to become a Counter-reform country, you cannot switch back to Catholicism until the Edict of Tolerance.

- If a human is force-vassalized he must remain such for at least 20 years. Unless his liege frees him peacefully, after those 20 years he must fight for independence. Vassals cannot declare war on overlord's allies or vassals without his permission.

- Giving away cities to try to avoid some event to fire is forbidden.

- Attacking an enemy fleet with pirates, as well as comparatively very small fleets, only made to inhibit loading/landing is forbidden.

- The land-naval slider can range only from 3 to 7.

- Map trading with AI is forbidden.

- Using exploration bug with 100 ships is forbidden.

- Staying at war with a country just for a purpose of looting, is forbidden.

- Edits are done between sessions and not during them.

- Release of vassals during wartime, to hinder an enemy, is forbidden.

- Force-burning of manufacturies, is forbidden.

- A country must declare war on the overlord in order to declare war on the vassal.

- Declaring a 'fake' war on a country, with the aim to:
* Increasing the stability of the nation you declare war on.
* To get around a rule that bans map-trading, by sacking the capital of the nation you want maps from.
* To change the religion of a protestant or Counter-Reformed-Catholic nation back to Catholicism before the Edict of Tolerance.
is FORBIDDEN

- Not leaving the territory of a player during peace-time, when he requests so to avoid you exploring his territory is forbidden

- Taking TPs in a war in order to help another country to get rid of badboy is forbidden.

beautiful! :) thx Fnuco.

I'm demanding:

1. Ottoman Empire
2. Spain
3. France

Hope we're having Brandenburg and Netherlands in this game, they're very interesting rare little things.

Is it bad if we made a rule about NL's independence? that is, releasing it in 1560 with compensations for Austria/Spain depending on who's holding it at that time.

If we had BB, maybe it'd be a good idea if we gave it peace till 1520 at least, that it, Poland, Austria or Sweden can't invade it until that time.

It'll be very interesting to watch EGO play, I'll be taking notes. :)

Ah yes! This game and ruleset appears much more organized. I can't wait for Thursday. But, if Fnuco will allow, I'd like to voice my opinion on a few things.

- A country must declare war on the overlord in order to declare war on the vassal.

If this is the norm in MP then I readily acquiesce. But I view this as a sort of "big brother" issue. Bear with me here. If Denmark is a vassal of Sweden and Brandenburg decides to DOW Denmark, then is it not incumbent upon Sweden as the overlord and protector of its vassal to DOW and not the other way around? That is, if I pick a fight with your little brother, is it not YOUR responsibility to protect your brother in that fight? After all, it seems foolish that one would opt to fight both brothers when I may only need to fight one. As in the last game, I invaded Britanny and France chose NOT to DOW me, but to attrition my troops instead. Poor sportsmanship and cowardice I say.

* To get around a rule that bans map-trading, by sacking the capital of the nation you want maps from.

In the last game, Fnuco, you did just that by attempting to take Portugal. Now I understand that this rule wasn't made as explicit and detailed in the last game as you have done here. If this rule is adhered to strictly, then I fully support it.

Anyway, the rules sound good to me. My top picks are:

1. England
2. Sweden
3. Not really sure. Wherever I'm needed I suppose.

For me:

1. Port
2. Not sure
3. Not sure

I am rather new to MP dimplomacy. Port is best for my current level I think. I dont want to take vital nations as I might mess up the balance.
What are the game settings?

Hmm, 22 GMT. What would that be in CET? 21 or 20. Because 21 would prolly be bit to late for me if the game would last 4 hours. But my choices would be:

France
England
Spain

NC:

the vassal thing is because it might happen this:

country A has truce with country B. country B has a vassal: country C. country A does not have truce with country C. What if country A DOWs country C?

B is forced to join, to help his vassal, and in doing it, he loses lots of stab for breaking truce. When actually A should lose stab, since agression on the vassal should be interpreted as agression on the overlord.

about the fake war: it is exactly to ban these, FAKE wars.
The rule was taken from another list, and note it says: "To get around a rule that bans map-trading". So, if there is a rule that prohibits map trading between humans, then I as France could arrange to pay Spain to let me take his capital and therefore maps. Such a fake war (IF there is a rule preventing map trading between humans) is illegal. In our game however, humans can trade maps, so ignore this rule. :D

NS:

game settings are usually normal/normal.

gamla:

hey man! unfortunately 22 GMT is 23 CET :(

Sounds reasonable enough, I just wanted clarification.

I hope the roster will be set by Wednesday afternoon so some diplomacy and back room dealings can begin before the session. ;)

guys, back to a topic we abandoned: did anyone find evidence of cheating in the save files? I checked them and the small differences between them do not constitute evidence that KoP had cheated. I say that until such evidence is found, we give him the benefit of a doubt. Paradox might have banned him for having multiple accounts, but i did not find any evidence he was troy100pc or that he cheated by editing the save.

Just wanted to say it, since i didnt want to leave the impression i considered him a cheater.

You guys feel free to keep looking in the saves, maybe i omitted something, but it all seemed ok to me.

Well regarding the rules nevermind. I didnt read one of them properly and it seemed to me the rule was absurd.

As for playing or not, i really dont know. 1492 vanila scenario stinks. I am afraid the manpower is screwed over the place. Cant you go at least for PE's 1492?
