There's a -1000% fertility penalty for house arrest in ck2+ iirc, not sure about vanilla. Mouse over the house arrest trait and it'll say.
Funny because Elisabeth Bathory (the Hungarian murderess who drained the blood out of at least a 100 peasant girls to make herself younger, bloody placebo) got the penalty "house arrest" and was entombed in a room for the rest of her life. I guess she's special then. ^^
That sounds like a lawyer-y thing, "it's house arrest, you're technically in your house. In a oubliette I just built for you, but it's still inside the house..."
