it was a bright sunny day in stockholm today. sun is already pretty low mid-day, like in skylines, but it is still bright and alive and full of colours.
no yellow overload though. each building facing the sun has it's own colour, the blue buses are blue, and the red buses are red.
the taxis are yellow, but they too, like anything else that is yellow, do not hurt your eyes. some taxis are dark blue.

funny thing though, i have intel hd4600 and nvidia 950m gtx.
tried loading the game on the intel today. it took about 10minutes to load, but it wasn't overly yellow. it was still very bright, but not yellow, not really.
nvidia CP has no settings for this :/

p.s. yes i know it's not supported, but the game used to run really well on hd4000. low details etc. but it did work.

That's interesting. Maybe gives us a clue why some people complain less than others.

again, i'm not saying its good on intel, it's just slightly less bad.
it could also be a coincidence. maybe intel doesn't have the capabilities for some in-game effects that countribute to the overall great yellow.

on the other hand, night looks perfect. in any lut.

Completely agreeing, yes that's how I understood it. Not good, but 'less bad" :D

There's a coincidence I'm Intel as well and as said before I don't find it that bad.

But it would be nice for others who are affected that they could fix this. Maybe a slider in the options to adjust the intensity, or something.

It's one of the main points of feedback, but we're currently evaluating what's most important to focus on so I can't promise anything more than it being a serious contender for improvements.
One of the main points of feedback...

I think one of the main points of feedback about this game for a long while was that it looked great and played great. Looked great being a significant factor. There is plenty of evidence of this already. And everyone was really looking forward to the DLC with the extra content. But what everyone did not expect was for the patch was to fundamentally change how their cities looked post-patch. Should anyone expect this from a content patch well after a release? This shouldn't be a serious contender for improvements, this should be an urgent initiative to fix this issue, and at least return the game to look as it did, with day/night disabled, nay played, beforehand. Anything less is throwing dirt in the players' face.

To all the other posters saying it looks OK and, more significantly, plays fine, have you seen the posts detailing the patch's effect on texture maps? This is obviously independent of any region choice or LUT choice, borne out by the plethora of evidence. There is significant data loss post-patch for the lighting of buildings. So, it is not just player preference. You've changed it.

Give us our textures back. Give us our buildings back. Most of all, give us our cities back.

We love what you enabled for us beforehand. Please don't throw it away on a whim, or in masked attempt for improvement.

my 2 pence for now

I think you are right. Intel inside here : )
comparing with some other pictures shared here & there.... I can understand some players...
But when I discovered and played the city, I didn't think negative about colors, so far.
And nights are so beautiful <3

Has this somehow eluded everyone at Paradox?

Update: I did find a LUT in the workshop that makes things playable again. Still washed out a bit but much more tolerable.

Nice update, but still I'm missing something in Asset Editor:

The ability to see "special" lights on vehicles in order to place them correctly (Light at so called position 5 on aircrafts ("landing lights") and emergency lights)

further on I'd like to see a 7th light position working for airplanes (second landing light). Also landing lights should turn on while taking off (kinda the same procedure while landing, only in reverse ;) ).

You need 3 weeks for make the correction that take one hour to change setting, seriously it's not professionnal...
One modder have make a temporary correction himself and your staff can't ???

I tell you what's not professional, that's ramming through a change that will affect everybody without looking at the root cause, analyzing it and determining the best PERMANENT (not temporary workaround) solution.

Also what's not professional is allocating work to this "cosmetic" problem when there were bugs that stopped people from playing.

We got the hot fix patch on the 1st October. At the very most you can say they've had a week to look at this.

It's amazing the number of people who think coding is simple and anything can be fixed in isolation of other factors.

EDIT: I do like how you used images to illustrate your problem, but it's strange that in one the sun is too the left and slightly in front of the viewer. In the other the sun is behind the viewer. Surely that would over-emphasize the issue

Oh you <3 Thanks for helping me explain.

Releasing a patch that will affect every single user playing this game is no small thing. Modders can work a lot faster because the worst repercussions for a less-great mod is that people don't install it. When we release something and it doesn't work it's a *major* issue.

We are working on a hotfix for some more pressing technical issues and, after that, there will most likely be some time before we release a more major adjustment/improvement patch.

I agree with 95% of what you said. But the "cosmetic" issue is a serious one. True game mechanics is priority, but textures is also very important. The point to building a city is to gaze at what we built and immerse ourselves in the details. Like stones in rivers, the grungy look of an old building and how the "scene" looks that we want to take screen shots of and go in first person to enjoy. If we are looking at crappy textures, it ruins the whole experience. And when I work many hours making my textures and going through all the tedious UV mapping, I want to enjoy the end product as intended. So please, don't take the look of our textures lightly. It's actually a big deal for many of us.

you're right to say it is a big deal if - and only if - there was no way around it. I know it's only just come out but bloodypenguin has a mod that rectifies it for now, and seeing as it's a moddable issue CO can focus on issues that CANT be fixed by a mod.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't fix it, just after the other stuff that's harder for the modders to do, then they can implement their own fix and make the mod redundant

I must add something.

Here on this forum, most of use know that there are ways to "fix" the way the game looks. We tried some luts (with more or less luck), we tried using the time warp mod's ability to change the sun's intensity and now we have a mod that's devoted to it... but we are not the average player.

The "average player" will launch a new game... and will look at his screen in amazement thinking "this game looks bad". He might still want to play but some harm will have been done. The day fix is absolute priority.

I would agree with everything except for "absolute priority" it's a priority but i think there must be other things of higher priority to fix, maybe there's a problem with game code on an OS or maybe something is actually broken they need to fix quickly before looking at something that should be described as undesired, not broken

That's a great mod that fixed 90% of the issue...but not the contrast where we still have dark shadows and bright textures in the light. Shadows and brightness is still hard on textures. I am very thankful for BloodPenguin the genius and appreciate his work. I'm using it now. But that fix did not do it all so I'm just a little concerned that some will say..."well, it's all settled, let's move on". Modders can't get at everything. BloodyPenguin is looking into the contrast thing. Hopefully modders can get to those bits.

And for the record...I'm only referring to daytime here. Night time is gorgeous!!!

Ok let's label it "priotiry that is very close to be absolute..." :D

I still think this is VERY important, because almost every player is affected, including people discovering the game... and it will be their first impression with it.
And think content creators are amateurs and don't know how to texture anything....or look at our original daytime workshop screenshots and wonder why it actually don't look so good in game..."False Advertisement".
