To be honest I don't understand why people aren't patient to wait to see what CO does about a visual issue that's not game breaking. Even if people find the game "unplayable" then put it down for a bit and play something else.

Personally I found the colours a little bright on Tropical, but fine (not perfect) on Temperate so I've just switched over for the time being.

we're not patient because we paid for something that's unusuable without sun glasses. i mean, just look ad madhopsmans screen. awful!
i'm not buying another sunglasses.

as for the mod, the AGOT mod is a great example. game breaks mod. devs give working older version of game to players. what's the problem? there is none!

Statements like Unusable without Sunglasses just makes me laugh, I've seen nothing approaching that.

As to the second part, what if the older version breaks the Mod? You go the the newer version, but in that, apparently the game is "unusable" <snigger>.

It's been 5 working days since the release, actual bugs are being fixed, and then they look at aesthetics that don't break the game.

EDIT: It is of course possible that I'm less sensitive to visual changes than other people. I'm generally more worried about issues that stop the game launching or make the game not work correctly.

EUIV doesn't support workshop mods, that's the big difference....If you want to mod EU/CK you need to manually apply the mod.

You need to have a word with your publisher my friend. CK2 and EUIV both have Workshop integration. As an example, the Veritas et Fortitudo total overhaul mod for EUIV is available via Steam Workshop or direct download. The key difference between your title and those games is they use a launcher to configure active DLC/mods, instead of from within the main game itself. Core functionality is the same, only the window dressing is changed.

as for the mod, the AGOT mod is a great example. game breaks mod. devs give working older version of game to players. what's the problem? there is none!

The issue is that, until recently, there was no method for forcing workshop mods to adhere to the game version. Your example only works so long as the AGOT mod also goes unchanged. The second the author(s) release an update making AGOT compatible with the newer game version it's no longer compatible with the old. As a Workshop subscriber you have no control over when this is, you can only keep your game current or revert to a previous patch. Paradox makes these beta patches available, without technical support by the way, because they have more resources to throw around. My understanding is that CO is a very small outfit and, as such, can't do all the things that Paradox can.

your edit would have been my reply if i could have gotten to it sooner. it's also possible that it depends on windows/gpu/some obscure setting. which would be weird since i have a fresh install. but i've seen weirder stuff happen.

@Treksdot, it's a specific case but it proves a point. AGOT will be changed to newer version once paradox releases a fix that works for it (apparently they broke the dragons). so players will be aware of that and update AGOT manually, or remove manual installation and use workshop. having *big* release versions available would not be a bad idea, and i doubt it would out of range for CO, because there are smaller companies with such "beta" branches in their games.

a functional public beta would have been even better, and would prevent stuff like this from happening in the first place. as a software engineer i just don't understand why some game developers refuse free testing.

@TotalyMoo

Is there an answer for this question ? Because the visual aspect of the game during daytime is horrible since AD was released.

It's one of the main points of feedback, but we're currently evaluating what's most important to focus on so I can't promise anything more than it being a serious contender for improvements.

I was wondering if something was overlooked when setting a bus route to a certain time of day only. If you set it to day only, shouldn't all the passengers stop queuing for the bus when the buses all decide to go back to the depot? then only start lining up again when buses are spawned again? It makes me feel bad for the cims when they're waiting all night for a bus that will never come til morning :'(

Yeah well this was a bit of dramatic exaggeration... but the day looks very bad.

I just went through the workshop to see what has been released since AD is out. Almost all of the day screenshots for new items are too bright and yellowish (many have chosen to only put night screenshots). The good looks of the game are simply destroyed.

I really don't see what the problem is supplying the previous version's as EU4 & CK2 do. When I am playing an older version of these games I don't expect to play the latest mods, so why would I in Cities Skylines. I buy a game which is then hijacked & updated against my will with no way of turning it back. Never had this problem before steam, & as I mention above they are not the issue but the developer CO.

It was the same in Cities in Motion 2. Frankly it is what I expected in this one too and like CIM2 I don't expect it to be changed by CO either.

Greetings!

-Fixed an issue where the game loading could get stuck if a custom asset created prior to the unique building category feature was subscribed.
-Asset editor: the offset of the car lights for night time caused the lights to always show from the center of the car. Now they are at the right position.
-Asset editor: the position of the car lights at night time are now exposed in the properties panel.
-Asset editor: the properties panel now support dragging of a float value so it is easier to visualize position. If an horizontal blue arrow appears when hovering the name of a field, click and drag to increase/decrease the value instead of typing it directly.
-Asset editor: the default category selection when selecting a car template was incorrect, now it is correct.

Regards,
The Cities Team
Thanks for making our lives easier when making trains. I edited the train illumination tutorial in light of this patch.

I hope the daytime is getting top priority. I'm optimistic that it will

Yeah, I agree. If not, how can I revert? This was the first game I ever bought off of steam. Now I'm pretty much regretting this decision. All it takes is the flick of the switch for the devs to ruin the game. FIX THIS PLEASE. Or at least tell me how to roll back. I cannot and will not play it in the current condition, it's painful.

Update: Oh yeah...Please the fix the yellow burning hell this update has put my cities in as well. (screenshot attached).
I don't understand how people are getting over-saturation like this, my game looks perfectly normal, sure a little brighter in the day time but it shouldn't look like that.

You say your game looks a little brighter so you admit there was a change, it already was too bright before AD. Maybe your screen/GC setup was a tad darker than for some other people, this could explain why you (and some others) find it acceptable.

I looked at some city journals yesterday, and watched some videos.

I didn't find one daytime pic or video that was unaffected, even Atys (who makes amazing detailed stuff) had to release a youtube vid with the bright/yellow tones and in the end said he hoped this would get fixed soon.

Brighter during mid-day because the sun in the sky box has changed position, it used to sit at angle pre-AD on most maps instead of directly above

The only thing I can think of is if your graphics card is outputting RGB instead of YCBCR, because with RGB you do get that classic washed out look which can make the game seem saturated

I've tried a bunch of LUTs and corrections, even set to "none" but they all look like sh**. Maybe this is because I am on Linux? Is that screenshot I posted what it looks like for everyone else? Clearly I'm not alone, but maybe I'm just lucky in that I'm an elite member of the nuclear holocaust fringe.

Yeah, well I already paid for a product that was, up until this update, fine. Now it's not. Imagine purchasing a red car, then the manufacturer comes over to your house while you are sleeping and changes the color from red to blue. That's what this feels like. It was JUST FINE before this update. I didn't ask for any changes, minor bugs aside. The workshop mods helped fix any issues I had. Then, stupid me, I put steam in "online" mode and *BOOM*; update shoved down my throat with no choice given and now it hurts to look at the game.

Play something else? I bought this game so I could play it, not let it sit around and wait. Sorry, the visuals are very much a game-breaking deal to me. Maybe I am being a bit whiny, but I didn't ask for this and don't want it. STEAM FAIL. Lesson learned. :(

it was a bright sunny day in stockholm today. sun is already pretty low mid-day, like in skylines, but it is still bright and alive and full of colours.
no yellow overload though. each building facing the sun has it's own colour, the blue buses are blue, and the red buses are red.
the taxis are yellow, but they too, like anything else that is yellow, do not hurt your eyes. some taxis are dark blue.

funny thing though, i have intel hd4600 and nvidia 950m gtx.
tried loading the game on the intel today. it took about 10minutes to load, but it wasn't overly yellow. it was still very bright, but not yellow, not really.
nvidia CP has no settings for this :/

p.s. yes i know it's not supported, but the game used to run really well on hd4000. low details etc. but it did work.

It have nothing to do with graphic cards. Look at the textures and compare to before launch. It's not all about the yellow, the main thing is our textures are not as we made them anymore and are washed out during the day. Textures is what makes our assets look good.

Did you read and look at the comparison images here? https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...aturation-of-whites-colors-after-dark.883446/

I agree with you. There wouldn't be an issue at all if you could just go onto Steam & play the previous beta like Paradox does with its other games like EU4 & CK2. Then people would happily wait whilst CO try to sort any issues out.
