its not a cloud issue. all saves from 1.12.2, both ironman and not ironman cannot be loaded with 1.13, it actually tells you in game (when you look at the local non cloud saves) that its incompabile. Which is rather disappointing because there are some games I Wanted to continue
No. Non-ironman saves load fine. Just click on the little incompatible box to see them, load them up, and they're fine. Works for me, at least, but Paradox makes a point of warning you that save game compatibility can't ever be assured.

Wait, you mean you can force it to load despite being marked incompatible, and it works? huh.

You can just load up your savegame and resave them, and they work just fine. (Unless they are one the cloud, that is)

This never ceases to be a source of amusement, especially since a LOT of the people complaining are the same people who complain about buggy releases and say Paradox should do more betas.

I have played hours and hours of multiplayer with no crashes, what are you talking about?

I'm talking about an apparently difficult-to-fix bug that the devs have already acknowledged, and that I hope is fixed in the beta (haven't even bothered to keep trying to play with friends).

Would you have preferred to wait until after their holiday for the release of the patch? This is what's called a compromise, you get access to the additional bugfixes, balances and features etc. but in exchange you accept that it has not been tested to the extent it otherwise would have been and might have problems overlooked. If you don't want to make that compromise then 12.2 still works just fine.

Regarding MP, I haven't had any crashes in recent memory but just because they might do things that are criticisable doesn't mean this completely reasonable situation is unreasonable.

I'd rather be able to play without having major bugs, with a non-beta patch. I know that the devs are humans, not robots, but it's just irksome having to wait so much for a stable patch after CS.
What I fear the most is that summer vacations are around the corner. I still remember what happened last year with CK.

By the way, is exploration broken only with El Dorado's exploration missions or also for base game exploration?
Base game exploration works fine. It's things tied to colonial range that appear bugged.

You still can't colonize directly, but this (disabling El Dorado) is a bit of a work-around. You CAN conquer coastal natives and can colonize adjacent to those. Even the AI seems to figure that out (though much later).

I don't have El Dorado, was playing as Castile (nice easy way to try out the new machanics), got an event that gave me Columbus. "Hurrah!" thinks I, "let's get started early on the New World". Unfortunately, "you can't cross oceans as you don't have Quest for the New World", so I explored all around Africa to India but I can't sail past the Cape Verde Islands and go see what's across the ocean blue...

However, I can confirm that colonisation is still screwed without El Dorado - the aforementioned islands had not been colonised by Portugal and I can't colonise them either, as they show as "this is too far away" despite being well within range from the Canaries (and yes, I'm at peace and they're not blockaded or under rebels or anything).

As other people have mentioned, seems that the "colonial distance" calculation is a teensy bit screwed at the moment. So, fingers crossed for the beta hotfix.... :) (and in the meantime I'm going to have another super-easy play in the sandpit as the Ottomans and not have to worry about the New World for ages)

Random thought - has anybody tried 1.13beta with Random New World, and does the same happen there...?
