Useless patch, it doesn't fix launching the game from steam. I am not able to play the game I paid my money for and I am very unhappy about it. Get your shit together, Paradox.

Do you have posted in the technical issues section? This is either a bug due to your special configuration, or an issue on your side.
It's a well documented problem that paradox has done nothing to but ignore as far as I can tell.

I agree with the fact that it doesn't work, but Wiz isn't ignoring it. I'm sure he would like to though.

If you're genuinely looking for help, though, the place to start for launch issues is usually the Tech Support forum.
Personally, I haven't had any issues launching this patch from Steam, nor any other. And you seem to be implying that this probelm pre-dates the 1.12 patches. So I'm a bit curious as to what your issue is.
The issue is when I launch the game the launcher never appears. Steam says I'm playing the game briefly then goes back to being out of game. This problem only began after the Common Sense DLC was released, which I stupidly paid for.
EDIT: Rolled back to 1.11.4 and it works like a charm. GG Paradox
More edits: Rolled it forward again to 1.12.1 and the problem hasn't occurred since. My friend had the same issue and this fix worked for him.

You probably need to delete your mod folders. Deleting the mod folder in my documents worked for me.
Already did. The only fix for me was rolling back to a previous version.

Are you sure you deleted the right one? I had two mod folders, and deleting the first one didn't help. If it doesn't help that's bad..
I'm having the same issue as SilverFlame, and deleting the mod folders and unsubscribing from all the workshop mods hasn't changed anything. I'd probably be a lot angrier about this if I wasn't going on vacation in 3 days.

Well is not a bug but: In Military tab, select infantry/cavalry/artillery type tab, hover the mouse over the unit no longer display the historical window of the unit =(
I can also confirm that the launcher frequently never shows up, while other times it loads fine with no rhyme or reason.
Similarly, the .mod files getting screwed up is still an issue. I played a game with mods, quit to eat lunch, then came back and all the .mod files were messed up again!

I'm aware there are two, one in Documents\Paradox and the other in the Steam folder. Deleted them both.
I can play but downloading mods breaks the launcher still for me, will just have to play vanilla for now

Just curious.. Are the mods you are using and everyone else is using up to date for the expansion ?
The two I tried said they where compatible with 1.12 a flag mod and the bigger peace view mod
Ok but are you trying to play a save game or a new one.. Most mods that update with expansions Etc.. Normally say they are not save Compatible.. So my next question is are they save Compatible which normally they are not. they could be compatible with 1.12.. But not save compatible with your save games
