Unfortunately it's still laggy for me to the point of being unplayable, with a 3-second delay for single mouse clicks even when the game is paused. Oh well, guess this is something like motivation to go work on other projects.
People seriously think that scrubbing my mods and reinstalling the game weren't already suggested and done multiple times? Not that I should I have do any of this anyway, the game should be playable.
I just did a full clean reinstall and still nothing works. This bug can't always be fixed by deleting the mod folder or reinstalling, so sadly some of us will have to wait until Paradox provides a proper solution. So you did follow the exact steps for a clean reinstall as described by Paul31264? I can hardly imagine that this wouldn't fix your problem if you were able to play before the patch. Of course all this shouldn't be necessary, I guess it depends on how badly one wants to play the game right now.

I am not sure if this is something only specific to me and my setup or everyone gets this CTD.
Wiz, perhaps you can answer this, but why is the Netherlands a coherent country from year 1477 onwards in the game, when it didn't exist as a country until 1568 when they began their independence revolt against Spain?
I have tried both and I've also tried launching it from the game folder. Nothing works. Task manager also says that the game launches (the process shows up), but it crashes after 5-10 seconds. The one thing I did notice is that when you hit the launcher it does take longer for it to show the game. Which is something new in my books anyway.. It seems like its not going to work since I do not see anything for a bit and then it goes into the game.
Question - Have you tried to launch the game from steam itself ( inside of steam lists of games ) and do you have a Desktop icon for it and have you tried it that way ?
Here is the promised hotfix. Please let us know if there are any further technical issues through the bug forum. Hotfixes are always save game compatible, so 1.12 saves should be fine.
- 'One family to rule them all' achievement can no longer trigger in regency.
It seems like we will have to wait for 1.12.2 to come out.Nice, though there's a ton of other bugs you will most likely will not be addressing, the same way you did not address many issues with events and such that's been here. I wonder if I'll ever be able to play with random new world without it defaulting to a jumbled up standard new world for no reason at random game load (with saves already corrupt)?
AI's navy still ignores movement lock.
Papacy gets events that completely do not apply to them like chance to get a cardinal (there's a series of similar events).
Sometimes events spark in groups. My 1.12 record so far is 7 random events in one day. One of those events sparked twice.
AI still unable to leave a single unit on a fort to keep all of its siege progress when the bulk of an army moves away.
AI still completely oblivious about ZoCs and runs around forts just to change its mind on the other side of the fort and return the same way, thus effectively sacrificing to attrition half of its armies. France + Austria vs Switzerland was something Monty Python would not conceive.
AI is getting stuck in huge stacks and does nothing to move into enemy territory. Getting huge attrition and doing nothing is seemingly more attractive.
~25% of missions are either pointless or impossible to undertake, like conversion of provinces that are affected with religious fervor (the brand new 100%).
Converted provinces are affected with religious fervor but centers of reformation aren't. Makes perfect sense.
These are just a few examples from the top of my head.
Also, Austria seems to be the only country capable of passing HRE reforms. Other emperors, even with 100% authority, did nothing for decades.
EDIT:
And about the mods... I tried to download them automatically again and now there is no version limitation at all and all mods, even the obsolete ones from game version like 1.5 are available. I personally don't mind but I also strongly doubt it was the point of the patch. At least the launcher doesn't crash every other time as it did pre-patch and in 1.11.0.
EDIT2:
It turns out you did not fix anything with mods. Supported version is still removed by steam's workshop. The availability of all mods was caused by the fact that they were not downloaded yet. I was able to activate mods that did not exist but then they got downloaded, the gray wall is back.
