If you use a lot of mods, you should definitely extract them (for inexplicable reasons, these are left ZIP-packed). Your game will now start 5 times faster. It's like when the mods are reinstalled every time you start the game. Yea, what a waste of time and energy for any mod user (probably the game's intent). Storage space was valuable 10 years ago (even after extraction there is no real space difference, because most files are already in packed formats).

This should be a task for the PDX launcher (yea amongst many other things).
