Well, my way of building a new colony is to directly transfer pops up to 5, upgrade the shelter and then fill the planet completely. If you do it like that, it is quite naturally the opposite. I only realized that being able to build both was unintented when I got bored and wanted to build spiral hubs on all previous colonies.
I meant to say to me it was literally the first thing I tried, to queue them both, after I saw that one blocks the other.

Sure, but how obvious it is depends non how you play. Anyways, as they can block planet unique buildings to be queued a second time there must be a flag they can set to prevent this. But nobody is taking the 5 minutes to do it apparently. Well maybe they do it I keep whining about it :p

Actually from my experience, the moment I see some red text, the first thing I do is to see if there is some way around it.

I don't know why but in general, when Stellaris says "you can't do X", then quite often there actually is a way of doing X, intentionally or not.

TFW a guy suggests "bugging" horizon signal by getting two Natural X traits but goes with psionic ascension which only gives 10% to science. So you end up with only +35% to physics/engi.

FYI intelligent synths with physics trait and logic circuits and synth ruler is far more useful (+60% to physics and +45% to others)

Alternatively, for an even more OP build:
Erudite
Robust
Natural Engi
Conservationist
Communal
+ Intelligent
+ Natural Physicist

+45% to physics/engineering which with the +5% from robust will go up to +55% effective or more depending.

With the change to how cyborgs and psychics works, If you really want to go all-out, you can abuse vassal creation and ethics shifting until you get yourself a species template with all of that AND psychic AND cyborg. The amount of time required for this sort of thing isn't at all worth it, of course.

So, in this same game I conquered some cyborgs from the materialist AE. Would not let me psionically assimilate them, since they're not organic.

Not sure how cyborgizing psionic pops works now... Since DA assimilates everyone, I can't imagine it's not allowed, but maybe removes psionic trait now? Or is cyborg->psionic turned off while psionic->cyborg is still allowed?

Anyway, cyborg on its own no longer gives production bonuses, so this is only good for your leaders.

guys... dont worry paradox want to keep abuse... they ONLY prevented abuse of AI and not for player intentionally so player can trigger it when he want.
in multi player just ban it if you think abuse is problem since its not someting you should rely on there
