Hey, so ever since they change the Horizon Signal to a farmable event I've been loving it. So much so I've built a specific empire to work with the event, and meld with it every step of the way. Then I found something hilariously awesome QUICK GO DO IT NOW BEFORE THE DEVS AT PARADOX PATCHES THIS OUT RUN MY FRIENDS RUN. (I might have already been found and posted before but I'm a bit lazy to look for it.)

So first off my empire setup, and how it takes advantage of the event.

First off with the change to leaders costing energy instead of influence its a bit less problematic when the event devourers half of your roster. Nice.

Empire: Fanatic Spiritualist cause I just love the mesh of Horizon Signal Event with Psionic
Pacifists is my second now if you are more of a PANSY go start militarist, because the event will forcibly change you to accept the other. I don't recommend not going pacifist or militarist because they are excludable you can't be both for example:
Fanatic Materialist, Egalitarian will be changed to either Materialist Egalitarian and Pacifist/Militarist causing a three way split. Unless you want your empire in revolt for thousands of years, or you saved the Old God event thing to convert a ton to spiritualist or something.

Fanatic Spiritualist and Pacifist becomes Fanatic Spiritualist and Militarist which I prefer it doesn't restrict your warfare means, and you can conquer territory like wrecked Science Nexus or Wrecked Ring Worlds without going batty because of pacifist.

For Civics I run Environmentalist and Corporate Dominion/Mining Guides since Habitats or Ring World building is pretty meta powerful cause dang that increase cost to research and unity that's what I'm aiming for. Corporate Dominion is that greed inside me that I don't want anything but mining, food and unity on my planets and if I can get just a bit more mining buildings to pump out for habitats then I'm all good it's really a personally favorite cause dang that 8.5 x 6 Energy per Starbase! I usually try to pump out 7 Science Habitats because that's around a Science Nexus worth of Research before I build one Energy habitat.

Ok for something I found extremely broken!
Traits: Industrious, Conservationist, Natural Engineers with Sedentary and Repugnant as your downsides.
Industrious and Conservationist are easily explain = MINERALS
Sedentary = Cause who cares.
Repugnant = Cause you're getting it anyways from the Horizon Signal Event why not get it now.
Natural Engineers (UNINTENDED GAME BREAKING MECHANIC) = The Event gives you Natural Physicists, and you can't get both Natural Engineers and Natural Physicists normally, but with the Event the game forces it upon your species so ONLY YOUR AWESOME WORM SPECIES HAS BOTH NATURAL PHYSICSTS AND NATURAL ENGINEERS. I don't recommend getting NATURAL SOCIOLOGIST because you get that special 8 Society Building from the event what more do you need I always had double the Sociologist research because of it had Army XX before Energy Weapon Damage V. Add this to intelligent (Again Event forces this upon you.) and Psionic and you got a species with like what 35% research bonus on Engineering and Physics with a 20% on Society but with 8 Society Buildings.

Anyways I've been having a blast with this build, and I hope they add more events that are long extensive MASSIVE EMPIRE ALTERING events.

PS: things that I may have glanced over. Some of my friends say nab Democratic and get Efficient Bureaucracy but I start Pacifist so I already get 2 more Core Sector Systems, and Habitats... For the Democratic I get the unity boons but I always found myself holding on to a Tradition Ascension too long and usually unlock my second one before I even use the first held one. The First two are relatively easy to obtain with Technological Ascendancy and Habitats but the third is RNG luck Psionic for Mind Over Matter. I mean you could go Imperial Prerogative but did you really colonize 9 Tomb Worlds that fast? Also that Mega Structure build speed, but I never got the Zero Point tech fast enough to instantly nab it with my unity gains. The other is locked behind Mega Engineering which has come at year like 90 - 120 for me so usually then I have an Ascension perk ready for it cause well what else am I going to get. Anyways just thought I share this experience.

Farmable horizon signal event? How does that work? I was under the impression every black hole you enter the first time has a chance to fire it. Isn't that the case?

My empire is the Shadows of the Wyrm. I love this event. Xenophobe, spiritualist, pacifist or f. Pacifist + xenophobe. Then take isolationist civic. This gives a great boost at start and once I get psionic finished I trigger the event to turn into fan Militaristic and spiritual. Then I go on the war path!

You can keep sending science ships with a scientist to any system with a blackhole and it will eventually trigger. Midgame I have around 5 ships jumping in and out of the system. After a few years it will trigger np.

You only get one chance to trigger the Horizon Signal in each Black Hole you enter. The patched out the ability to keep re-entering a system to trigger it, quite a while ago.

It was farmable in 1.9.1, and still is in the latest 2.0.2 beta.

TFW a guy suggests "bugging" horizon signal by getting two Natural X traits but goes with psionic ascension which only gives 10% to science. So you end up with only +35% to physics/engi.

FYI intelligent synths with physics trait and logic circuits and synth ruler is far more useful (+60% to physics and +45% to others)

Alternatively, for an even more OP build:
Erudite
Robust
Natural Engi
Conservationist
Communal
+ Intelligent
+ Natural Physicist

+45% to physics/engineering which with the +5% from robust will go up to +55% effective or more depending.

Wait.. the event can give Intelligent and Natural Physicist to you after you synth-ascend? That is amazing haha.

Try it as an inward perfeection xenophobe fanatic pacifist build.
Colonize to the max, race your unity and research, but try and stay small to minmax output.
Then, around 2325, last time I had 300 k fleet and +2k minerals. Now flip the switch for the civic swap. Voila, Awakened military isolationist RP playthrough, and also one of the strongest SP strats I know under current patch.

I did exactly this over the weekend, and ran into the "researching Colossus removes all your wargoal options" bug. Save game is on hold until that gets fixed. :)

thats not a bug. AI can no longer trigger event by re entering same blackhole so player can abuse it to get it if he really want to abuse
little problem in multiplayer games but not someting you can set rule to "do not start worm event or as host of game I will forcefully kick you and declare you as lost." and play game

the event can only trigger for each blackhole only once for AI
player can re-enter blackhole system to trigger it all the time. for fun purposes

I've been going a different route that's similarly exploitative.

Syncretic Evolution (not necessary but worked well enough), Authoritarian / Fanatic Spiritualist - although really, spiritualist alone is enough.

Trigger the event, but go down the Evolutionary path before you finish. Because we're going to evolve them away your initial traits don't matter that much - I just used traditional/intelligent. Since you get so much society research from the building and quests, it synergizes pretty well.

Pick the system you want to convert. If Zanaam is in the game, that's a guaranteed four size 25s. Settle it and the like.

Finish the evolutionary path. Make sure there's at least one each of your main and syncretic species on your new homeworld, and engineer them with the traits you want everywhere. I picked Fertile, Erudite, Robust, Sedentary and Repugnant.

Then finish the Messenger connection. If you want, restrict it to your capitol world - you're going to re-engineer everyone in a little bit anyways. This helps you keep your ethics if you want. However, now you've got both Intelligent and Erudite - normally restricted to picking only one. For my syncretic species, I picked Robust, Fertile, Industrious. They don't get Intelligent from the Messenger connection, so I don't see the point in making them mediocre at research when your main species has +30% to all.

Then finish the rest of the line. Boom. Every species in the system gets Tomb habitability, Repugnant and Natural Physicists. With Robust that's 90% habitability to all non-tomb worlds, 100% on tombs, +30% to engineering and sociology and +45% to physics, and -2 trait points remaining.

Dang nicesu definitely more optimized than mines. I definitely should've spent more time trying to find even more exploitive things welp back to the game.

That must be from an old patch. Horizon Signal won't affect planets over size 25 and there is a minimum size requirement now too. I think it's 10 but I'm not sure.

Also planets over size 25 had only 25 tiles.
