Hey, so ever since they change the Horizon Signal to a farmable event I've been loving it. So much so I've built a specific empire to work with the event, and meld with it every step of the way. Then I found something hilariously awesome QUICK GO DO IT NOW BEFORE THE DEVS AT PARADOX PATCHES THIS OUT RUN MY FRIENDS RUN. (I might have already been found and posted before but I'm a bit lazy to look for it.)
So first off my empire setup, and how it takes advantage of the event.
First off with the change to leaders costing energy instead of influence its a bit less problematic when the event devourers half of your roster. Nice.
Empire: Fanatic Spiritualist cause I just love the mesh of Horizon Signal Event with Psionic
Pacifists is my second now if you are more of a PANSY go start militarist, because the event will forcibly change you to accept the other. I don't recommend not going pacifist or militarist because they are excludable you can't be both for example:
Fanatic Materialist, Egalitarian will be changed to either Materialist Egalitarian and Pacifist/Militarist causing a three way split. Unless you want your empire in revolt for thousands of years, or you saved the Old God event thing to convert a ton to spiritualist or something.
Fanatic Spiritualist and Pacifist becomes Fanatic Spiritualist and Militarist which I prefer it doesn't restrict your warfare means, and you can conquer territory like wrecked Science Nexus or Wrecked Ring Worlds without going batty because of pacifist.
For Civics I run Environmentalist and Corporate Dominion/Mining Guides since Habitats or Ring World building is pretty meta powerful cause dang that increase cost to research and unity that's what I'm aiming for. Corporate Dominion is that greed inside me that I don't want anything but mining, food and unity on my planets and if I can get just a bit more mining buildings to pump out for habitats then I'm all good it's really a personally favorite cause dang that 8.5 x 6 Energy per Starbase! I usually try to pump out 7 Science Habitats because that's around a Science Nexus worth of Research before I build one Energy habitat.
Ok for something I found extremely broken!
Traits: Industrious, Conservationist, Natural Engineers with Sedentary and Repugnant as your downsides.
Industrious and Conservationist are easily explain = MINERALS
Sedentary = Cause who cares.
Repugnant = Cause you're getting it anyways from the Horizon Signal Event why not get it now.
Natural Engineers (UNINTENDED GAME BREAKING MECHANIC) = The Event gives you Natural Physicists, and you can't get both Natural Engineers and Natural Physicists normally, but with the Event the game forces it upon your species so ONLY YOUR AWESOME WORM SPECIES HAS BOTH NATURAL PHYSICSTS AND NATURAL ENGINEERS. I don't recommend getting NATURAL SOCIOLOGIST because you get that special 8 Society Building from the event what more do you need I always had double the Sociologist research because of it had Army XX before Energy Weapon Damage V. Add this to intelligent (Again Event forces this upon you.) and Psionic and you got a species with like what 35% research bonus on Engineering and Physics with a 20% on Society but with 8 Society Buildings.
Anyways I've been having a blast with this build, and I hope they add more events that are long extensive MASSIVE EMPIRE ALTERING events.
PS: things that I may have glanced over. Some of my friends say nab Democratic and get Efficient Bureaucracy but I start Pacifist so I already get 2 more Core Sector Systems, and Habitats... For the Democratic I get the unity boons but I always found myself holding on to a Tradition Ascension too long and usually unlock my second one before I even use the first held one. The First two are relatively easy to obtain with Technological Ascendancy and Habitats but the third is RNG luck Psionic for Mind Over Matter. I mean you could go Imperial Prerogative but did you really colonize 9 Tomb Worlds that fast? Also that Mega Structure build speed, but I never got the Zero Point tech fast enough to instantly nab it with my unity gains. The other is locked behind Mega Engineering which has come at year like 90 - 120 for me so usually then I have an Ascension perk ready for it cause well what else am I going to get. Anyways just thought I share this experience.
