Hopping Panama Channel ?

hi, this is from my ongoing Japan AAR :

I invaded Nicaragua as a staging point for my invasion of Panama Channel. Then, I realized that I don't need to do that because my transports are able to travel entire South America and land at the East Coast and this journey is less than 4000 kms.

I think each transport has about 10 guys aboard and 10 000 tons of fuel oil.
