For those somehow still oblivious to the problem here it is: there are way too many characters with the dwarf trait and they face very little problems, if any.
There have already been many threads about it, so I'll cut straight to the point: suggested changes.
1. Prestige penalty for the dwarf trait - dwarves were not really considered highly in the day and age of CK2. I would suggest about -0.1 monthly prestige.
2. Diplomacy penalty - same as above plus the fact that it would have a realistic effect on their ability to gain politcal strenght. I'd suggest -1 or -2.
3. Negative vassal opinion. Most medieval lords would not be happy about being ruled by a women and so they have a relations penalty with vassals. The same should apply to dwarves. Bonus points for making it less likely that a faction would place a dwarf on the throne. I'd suggest -10.
4. Lower chance of random courtiers being created with the trait and lower chance of being born with it. The dwarf trait is the one with the highest chance of being inherited, which should be balanced with a lower chance of getting it in the first place.
5. Prestige penalty for marrying a dwarf. Most feudal lords would consider such a marriage offer insulting unless there was a difference in rank (i.e. the dwarf being of higher rank).
6. Penalty to AI's acceptance of marriage proposals with dwarves. Combined with the above this would hopefuly result in most dwarves marrying below rank and unlanded dwarves not marrying at all. 5 and 6 should not apply to dwarf-dwarf marriages.
7. To combat the problems that the above creates if one has a dwarf heir I propose the introduction of a new decision: disown a child. This decision would only be allowed if the child is a dwarf/kinslayer/excommunicated/different religious group. It would cost a lot of prestige and piety and cause a relationship penalty with the target and/or dynasty members and/or vassals.
