Agreed. I think this is something that could add a little extra flavor to the game, if handled in a mature manner.
Damocles said:Well. Edward II managed to begat Edward III.
Though, some believe Edward III was the result of him being cuckolded, I find the latter has (supposedly) too much in common with Longshanks, his grandfather, to have been illegitimate.

I love the idea of this event. It could even be "stealth" mode so as to hide from the religious right.
Trigger: Child must be at least 16, still has an education trait. MTTH lower for arbitrary, chaste. MTTH higher for zealous, lustful. **BOY CHILD ONLY**
"Your child seems to enjoy spending unseemly amounts of time among his peers."
[the trigger above is DELIBERATELY short possible window so this event isn't common]
A) The child will figure it all out.
50% gains "Chaste"; Fertility -2; (Yes, I know Chaste reduces ferility, too. This makes for a visual reminder) 20% gains "Stressed"
b) Gently Encourage the child to seek the attentions of a peasant girl.
25% A bastard is born.
10% Gains trait "lustful"
15% Gains traits "deceitful", "chaste"
c) Inform the Diocese Bishop!
10% gains trait "Zealous"; Piety +50
20% gains trait "vengeful"
20% gains trait "chaste"
10% gains trait "sceptical"; Piety - 10
Piety [liege] + 20
d) He's no son of mine!
Child gains trait "bastard"
Prestige [liege] -50;
Child gains trait "chaste";
Child fertility - 5;
50% Child Defects [Runs off to live with his... special friend!]
Piety [liege] +50

Another idea would be to have the possibility of having some sort of scandal event where the person in question's "male favorite" becomes an issue because of rumors or favoritism, etc. I am not sure how that would be scripted though.

Actulally, I'm more in favor of the scandal event.
-Courtiers duelling over the post of marshal (younger, more hottempered killing of older dude..) With the option to exile/execute him.
-Smymaster canditades finds blackmail either you or your spymaster, threatining you with Scandal, chose between money, appointing or try to assasinate him...
-You/Your son doesn't seem to be able to impregnate yout/his wife,
option a, try t file for divorce (massive loss of piety), B Get som discreet help to secure succesion (child may later be revealed a bastard with "SCANDAL" event wich is VERY bad. C, try harder (gain lustful)
and much more...
Alexandre said:Human sexuality is far more maliable than we are willing to admit in our PC age. For example, bisexuality was so common in the Greco-Roman world that his contemporaries thought that it was worth recording that Pericles *did not* like boys. Compare and contrast to the modern West, even the more tollerant and liberal bits.

Grosshaus said:I don´t see how that would be possible without a separate trait for being gay.

A-ha! Now we arrive at the very core of why that empire crumbled! :rofl:GoblinCookie said:I know that in the Byzantine Empire homesexuality carried a death penalty.

How about "Your son does not seem to be very interested in girls", giving him the Chaste trait and a 66% chance of getting Lisp along with a noticable piety loss as well (perhaps with a B option of "I'll teach him!" that has a 67% chance of giving the boy Chaste, 33% of Lisp and 10% of Lustful)?Grosshaus said:This is not the place to discuss the essence of homosexuality. The only way this kind of events can be included is them being very PC on every possible way and to have pretty minimal in-game effects. That is not open for discussion.
