Here you get most of planet names I have in my database so far. I aim at around 40 planet names per faction, it is enough as far as I know the balance of Stellaris from my participation in beta tests.
Suggestions are welcome, though honestly I prefer 'positive' output (hey here you have some name suggestions) instead of 'negative' one (delete x) as filling the mod with thousands of names is enough problematic on its own
Corrections:
*Nikomedia
*Dobrudja(if you want non-english)
*Scythia
*Crna Gora
*Zaporozhia
*Trapezund
To delete(explained! and I suggest more):
Volgograd(modern name of one russian city; grad=city, bad name for planet; old name of this city is really significant - Stalingrad, but not modern)
Krasnodar(similar, it is 20-th century and modern name for Ekaterinodar)
Samara(not interesting provincial russian city)
Kursk(similar)
Berezina(something nonimportant place)
Sachalin(far-east island...) if not delete, it is named - Sakhalin*
Suggestions:
Places of the Earth, ancient, modern...:
Volga, Oka, Metohia, Kosovo, Adrianopol, Rhodos, Saloniky, Lena, Vologda, Sofia, Tavrida, Chersones, Don, Kuban(Krasnodar in this region), Epirus, Afon, Novy Ierusalim, Cyclady, Dodekanes, Smirna, Caspiy, Neapolis, Rim Nova, Velikaja Srbja, Tiveria, Severia, Slavonia, Vojvodina, Krivia, Polabia, Novorossia, Pergam, Byzantia, Ellada, Istria, Sinop, Messalia, Bosphorus, Kolhida, Imeretia, Morea, Tanais, Karfagen, Borea, Raska, Dalmatia, Illiria.
Another names, that I think looks cool(translation on english):
Slava(glory), Volya(freedom), Nadezhda(hope), Vera(faith), Protsvetanie(prosperity), Velichie(greatness), Reshitelnost(resoluteness), Doblest(valor), Pobeda(victory), Chistota(purity), Istina(truth), Svoboda(freedom)
Survey ships names. I am at 20 per faction and most of factions fill this requirement already (2-3 have closer to 30 names because of my need to represent people of minor nations). They are mostly based on famous explorers, scientists and intellectuals.
Corrections:
*Mendeleev
*Mefody
*Kirill(not Ciril)
Suggest to delete(explained! and I suggest more)):
Friedmann - jewish surname. It was famous mans in past, but it is XXIII century.
Brin - jewish too(sorry google).
Oberth - german
Ambartsumian - strange thing...
New suggestions(it was MORE names, because I didn't read word 'survey' and suggest military leaders Now all explorers or similar):
Kornilov, Makarov, Antonov, Atlasov, Apraksin, Nahimov, Ivanov, Popov, Sobolevsky, Shelikhov, Lazarev, Nikitin, Markov, Kapitsa, Sagalevich, Titov, Feoktist, Leonov, Dezhnev, Miklouho.
And seriously, I don't see any reason erasing people on the basis of them being "Jewish" or "German". Xenophobic to outsiders is one thing, accepting only titular nations is another. Not even taking into account that the state as large as that has a ton of titular nations, why not recognize those of Jewish/German/Ethiopian origin who were insiders and did awesome stuff in their days? Ok, Brin does not qualify but links are still obvious.
And yeah, Friedmann was a super significant figure especially since we are speaking of space ships, his surname is an obvious choice.
Also speaking of Slavic / Orthodox nations, "individualism" shouldnt be an ethos, "collectivism" should.
Also if i may suggest name change. "Pravoslav" sounds odd, "Pravoslavni" means "True-believers" or "Those who worship the right way". Another possibility is "Pravoverni" or "Rodnoverni" (those who worship their kin or worship the same way their ancestors did). Rodnoverye is the old pre christian faith of Slavs, and "rod" (kin) is a very powerful cultural motif.
Motto: "Order reigns supreme" or "Through order we triumph"

Volk stayed from first version of names, now deleted. And yes, it is 100% ours - meaning 'wolf' - 'Волк'.
No any xenophoby. It is game and the state is orthodox conservative blob. I think in german state must be germans, in american - americans, in african - africans and anothers. If I play some nation, I except their people.
I know about him) It is soooo many great germans and other nations in russian history, but for my opinion it is not reason to have Vrangel, Bering, Krusenstern, -dorfs etc in space game. It was elite of Russian empire, of cource there was many germans.

That probably shouldnt be so. Most of those countries - and namely Russia - arent 100% Orthodox. Orthodox faith doesnt have that strong ideology that could survive the kind of religious imposing that Orthodox empire alludes to. Imagine how much instability and conflict this would produce in all those countries where you have Muslim and other minorities. The "we are now Orthodox empire" approach is not far fetched, its highly improbable.
Instead what this should be about is Communism without Communism. Or socialism where ideology is replaced by religious or traditional values. Its a highly conservative society where religious leaders are given high positions of authority, and it would also be a multi religious and multi cultural society by need (because there are way too many religions and culture inhabiting its lands).
Well, Russian conservatism today is specifically against any kind of nationalism, the common topic is "if the guy serves the good of all and upholds certain moral values, we're okay with him". There was a film filmed buy a certain influential cleric of the Orthodox Church about Byzantium. One of its key messages was that nationalism is one of the greatest dangers to the Empire, the thing that literally breaks large states into ethnically homogenous pieces which are later absorbed by stronger neighbors. Now, I am not discussing if this ideas are valid and based on proper study of history (that'd be OT) but any state that upholds the same brand of Russian conservatism as the one that exists today, would be firmly against any brand of nationalism. Including Russian nationalism.

First things first, cannot agree more. That stuff was a lengthy argument on why names already in the list should not be erased. I just got a bit carried away

Sorry for delay, huge real life problems caused it, most is almost ready to appear on workshop.
I have updated original post to be more readable, also updated the map - I have decided those nitpicky country borders were only creating pointless divisions and controversies unrelated to the mod or game themselves.
I have also done small changes to ethos and gov forms of few factions, and in the end I have finally reached Perfect Balance regarding it:
Oh and yeah, I have done custom AI personalities for all factions:
Sorry but I am not going to split, add or modify Homo Universalis factions, 90% of them is set in stone for like two months and I am almost ready to release. I spent a lot of time and research to make them simultaenously 'realistic', diverse and fitting my vision and I current setup as perfect as it can be for me.
