If we zoom in really close to the ships will we see tiny Shams wearing Rome 2 shirts?

You never know! If you look really, really hard (and close your eyes) you might even see him riding his Magic Space Unicorn. You heard it here first, folks.

How could Paradox hide this game for that long?
HoI IV will be release only in 2015, and it was anounced earlier this year.
This games is going to be released at Fall, this means 2~3 months from now? That's really cool :D

You know how some games get hyped for years and years? Well, we thought it'd be a fun change of pace to spring a fun surprise on y'all instead... ; )

Great to see a space RTS after the genre lay barren for so many years!

The only real question for me is if the Space/Fleet Combat will reach the epic proportions I absolutely loved in Homeworld. For instance capital ships targeting multiple smaller ships while firing close range weapons at fighters. Didn't see anything like that in the trailer, but hope springs eternal.

So in what direction will this game tend?

Will this be more in a Sins of A Solar Empire style or will it stretch in to real-time tactics environment? (We need a worthy successor of Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, despite it's flaws and it's age it had so much potentional and some mindblowing mods. However, I understand that many people did no like it ;().

Nevermind, I'll be prehyped anyway. But some gameplay information would be quite useful to get into that uber-hyped state ;D

edit:

Re-read the announcement:
real-time strategy title that puts the player in command of a fleet

So there is a hint for the good elements from Nexus:TJI combined with modern gameplay elements, I guess?

Good. I mean it. EvW was announced way too early - they never even really got to the Beta stage after two+ years of development - especially given what had already happened to MM at that point.

^ this pls.

Will this be sins esque or more homeworld or something else entirely?

I hope its like homeworld because i loved that and i dont trust gearbox at all to remake it since theyve shown repeatedly that they cant do anything other than borderlands.

Regardless, more space games is always great.

At least this is going to have a fully 3d map like Homeworld, while Sins had 2d IIRC.

Ok, let's see if I can give some more hints about it all.

!

The only real question for me is if the Space/Fleet Combat will reach the epic proportions I absolutely loved in Homeworld. For instance capital ships targeting multiple smaller ships while firing close range weapons at fighters. Didn't see anything like that in the trailer, but hope springs eternal.

Well, one of the main inspirations for the actual look and feel of the space battles was a certain recent gritty remake of a 1970's space show about a rag-tag fleet looking for a certain planet. So, I would say there's a bit of what you are asking for. There are a few capital ships in the game and the "backbone" of your fleet are three huge "carrier type" ships, which you can see in the trailer. These are kinda focused on different roles, like construction or battle. Your "main" ship is the Ulysses II (the one in the trailer that has a kind of "submarine-like" bridge tower) as we wanted you to have your own Galactica/Enterprise/Falcon/Serenity/ChooseyourFavoriteScifibaseship to lead each mission. The battle can get pretty epic but it's a more close-range tactical affair than mass-engagements with hundreds of ships. Your typical battle group during a mission will consist of maybe 10-20 units (but some units are split into several ships that fly in formation).

At least this is going to have a fully 3d map like Homeworld, while Sins had 2d IIRC.

Yes, the maps is full 3d with movement in the XYZ planes. One rather unusual aspect for a game like this is that the maps are crammed full of stuff to look at and fight around. There's very little "empty space" in Ancient Space.
