While playing my first game of HTTT, I've gone on numerous crusades against heathens of all different types.
It seems a little strange to me that when a heathen ally comes to the aid of my heathen opponent, the Holy War causus belli that I used to instigate the war doesn't carry to that ally. Getting 4.0 infamy for a heathen province from a heathen power seems silly, especially when my justification for the conflict in general was a crusade.

I recognise that this probably balances the game somewhat, preventing crusades allowing you to swallow up the world in a few years, but it seems illogical, and, of course, highly annoying when a five-year truce prevents you from gaining cheap provinces from some heathen.

(Also, has this seriously not been brought up before? I've had a quick look, but couldn't find any discussion of it)

CB's don't apply to the allies of your CB target, unfortunately. :(

Believe me, I've noticed.
But there's obviously functionality for pre-existing CBs to be taken into account in different wars, or at least the Infamy/Prestige costs thereof.
When I fought Denmark under something like a Violated Sphere of Influence (VSI? We're going to need a whole new set of acronyms for HTTT) CB, and also had a Reconquest CB for my core on Holstein, I claimed three provinces in the peace treaty, one of which was my cored Holstein, and only picked up the 8 Infamy for the other two provinces.
If that pre-existing different Infamy cost can be taken into account there, why not Holy Wars on multiple nations?

That's not the Reconquest CB affecting you there, it's the fact that you've a core, so you gain no BB for taking it.

Yes, but the modified Infamy cost is there because, in that case, Holstein was a core, which was the cause for the CB.
In a crusade, the cause for the CB- the differing religion- is already there, so let the modified Infamy cost be taken into account.

I agree the CB system needs to be modified. All powers fighting in the war should have the same CB's. It would also be nice if it would take into account multiple CB's when going to war, so I can use a conquest CB and a Holy War CB at the same time.

I thought about that as well... like if you are in a defensive war, but "accidentally" capture a core of yours in the process, if you also have that Reconquest CB, you should either take no BB loss (or maybe partial is more fair) for that particular prov...

Some might feel that is gamey, i dont think so though, as you are reclaiming lands that are "rightfully" yours. (Especially if you were attacked!)

No, not all of them. I've noticed in my Byzantium game, if two people are allied, and you declare reconquest on one and the other joins in, taking cores from the second costs full BB.

Declaring war on both at the same time does work, though.

He was referring to CBs - as are you :)
But it is however true that you do not share a stab-free declaration of war, if you join an ally.

Yea i didnt really explain well enough, but i was referring to a scenerio like this.

If you are in a defensive war against a nation with allies, you can only take the cores from the main nation you are at war with but not the allies... is this true or can you take any of them?

The main point i was trying to make, was if you have the cores, the game should recognize that and give no infamy for taking them regardless of that CB youre currently running with... you are at war with someone who "stole" or is wrongfully occupying your land. If you have a core, you'd have the "reconquest CB" already but you cant apply it till you peace out and wait 5 years and then DoW.

I have a feeling it was put in this way on purpose to keep nations from blobbing too quik.

That last post is almost exactly what I'm trying to say; if the justification for a war, whether that be cores, different religion, or whatever, already exists, then making peace should take that into account.
