Ok, first the facts: I'm a long time EU2-player, but I really never played a poor minor before. So I started out the GC with the kinghts, ( you know those guys stuck on a wrong-culture/wrong religion/poor tax-value rock in the sea ;)) only to find out that they have no money.
The initial 200d is spent on a taxcollector, a ship, and some troops to invade Teke and Karaman. So I'm left without money, as I only take one-province islands.

Now the year is 1548 and my inflation is 61.8%. I know I'll be reaching infra 5 in a few years, but I need money to build governors in my now 4 provinces (Malta, Crete, Corfu and Rhodes) and also 4 tp's/colonies in Isle Royale/Barbados/Cape Verde and Fernando Po. I konw of the Great Carrack event coming in a few years (+1500d) but I want to use that money for colonization.

Anybody some ideas what to do?

So what happened with Teke and Karaman? Don't tell me you wasted that money or I'll demote you.

The answer to any question about I need money is always the same: Mint all the way to the right. As long as it will benefit your economy, it is worth it. If you cannot raise enough that way (they are mighty expensive with a >60% inflation) take as many loans as neccesary once you can expend the money on them and not pay it back in interests. One bankrupt more or less will not kill you, and the governors fight against inflation will allow you to recover. If you bankrupt, lay low for 5 years.

Yeah, the knights suck, but they are good for a laugh.

I vassalised them, took their money and used it to invade the OE.
I told you I would only take one-province islands...

Nah, I had a blast Crusading with the Knights, until I foolishly chose to move my capital to Lebanon in an event, thus stranding myself on a different continent from 90% of my territory and consequently reducing my manpower to 5. :eek:o A quick edit of province.csv to put Lebanon in Europe put me back on track and I even managed to eke out a points victory over Evil-Empire France in the final decades of the game. The point is, the Knights definitely do not suck :p

I would just use one word montezuma, problem solved colonise your little heart out.

Otherwise invade some nice rich lands in italy and use the extra taxes to fund your colonial efforts. Colonising is for wimps! War should always be the first priority! :p

Planning ahead would be better so that if you had Isfahan and Tabaristan or something you would still have some manpower. It would be good to be able to have land connects through much of Africa, Europe, and Asia. The possibility of land connections would be my reason for changing capitals.

Mint money until you get to 4.9%, then wait for a deflation event, and do it again. Otherwise, keep your minting level on 0.
Actually, I never got one of those...

Go to war? You have 3 pretty decent cultures IIRC.
