Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Rodgrigo, and so on. Truly one of the most pleasent soundtracks to listen that I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. It really adds a great deal to the atmosphere to be slugging it out in the suburbs of Moscow while the cannon sequence from the 1812 Overture is playing in the background. I am a bit of a classical music fiend, so I truly appreciate Paradox putting together such a wonderful soundtrack. I really liked the EU games soundtracks as well; here's to hoping that Crusader Kings carries on this fine tradition!

I think its way annoying. There isn't enough variaty.

They should have different music for each of the majors too.
The latter statement contradicts the former. Having different music for each major would mean having much less variety in any one game.

Whilst i also dislike it - mainly as it is untied from game events/countries - it is a piece of cake to change it to something you do like.

One thing you can't argue is that they made doing so dead easy and there's not exactly a shortage of MP3s on the net for you to chose from.

Ive whacked up two "music mods" here if you want - one replaces the music entirely with background "atmospherics" the other is stuff like famous WWII film themes and WWII songs - you'll probably get bored of both eventually but, as i say, it's easy to change.

( I said something positive about HoI! - Nobody faint! j/k )

Too repetitive? Rubbish. ;)
Honestly, I would appreciate a longer soundtrack, as there are a few certain works that I think would have fit in famously. But as such, I still can't take issue with it's overall quality, even after hearing it all the way through about 50 times. ;) It has about the most lively interpretation of the 1812 Overture I have ever heard. I am really curious as to who conducted it. A lot of good stuff on there. Overall, the soundtrack is a definite A+ for me. :D

It's nowhere near as comprehensive as I would of liked. No vocal preformances automatically loses some points. What's there is great there just isn't nearly enough. :D

I've added my own faves from the era, from Nazi goose-step music to Edith Piaf to Big Band. It's a much better experience now.

I think DK's point is that there is only so much room on the CD. Divide the number of minutes of music by 8 or 10 to represent the "majors" and then play one of them. If you already think it's repetative...

But, just do what Darkmoor does - create your own soundtrack.

I like the soundtrack a lot, although the game does seem to like playing Richard Wagner's "The Ring", I like the song but it reminds me of a bugs bunny cartoon (not the best thing to help me plan my war strategy :))

HoI's soundtrack is amongst the best ever
I agree, and It's all because of one song: My all-time favorite Classical piece: Ippolitov-Ivanov - Gregorian War March.

Absolutely the best. I have it loaded on Winamp and I'm listening to it all the time. :D :D :D

Check out Kazaa, and try to search for "Red Army Choir", "German marches", or the name of different war movies. No problem at all...
