While I was watching "World War Wednesday" on Youtube on full screen I realized that I won't be able to cope with the day/night effect.

I mean it looks like a giant "tsunami" effect that go through your sight at the speed of light like every second when you speed up the game (speed 3)

Maybe there is an option to disable it but I mean is it just me or can you imagine yourself a complete afternoon looking for infos on the map and get disturbed by this each time ?

I think they mentioned that effect can be turned off?

Somewhere? I have a hype headache though (well the headache is more about me having to upgrade the old potato to run HOI4)

I'm sure I remember the devs saying there is an option to disable it, I also remember them saying that at hight speed it fades out.

I remember this from somewhere but I have no clue in which DD it was. In any case it is a good idea to fade it out. An alternating sun and moon icon could be displayed when on high speeds to still get the info to the player.

Many people including myself have been saying the same thing since it was first revealed last year (if not before). It can be bearable for a time but it will cause a serious headache later on.

Can they not use a system similar to Superpower 2?

There IS an option to disable it, it's a little checkbox in the lower right-hand corner. Also, while I am not bothered by it, I am a little upset that the transition between day and night is so instant. Shouldn't it fade in and out between days and nights?

Exactly. Night isn't some big wave line crossing from east to west. The areas with night should fade out and slowly brighten back as day comes again.

This is exactly the system with Superpower 2 and it works wonders without being an eyesore. This is why I have been saying this again and again - Paradox should adopt that Superpower 2 day-night cycle graphic model.

Actually the terminator line seen from space is pretty abrupt and the effect of flattening a globe does make a wave out of the line.

EDIT: since I don't know the game you mentioned I could be missing something in what your saying.

More importantly though no one could have actually been watching that closely as I'm pretty sure Johan was playing with the day night cycle off. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in that case it would mean my brain had filtered it out so it won't be a problem anyway!
