  • Newer focus trees have been great. Focus trees are basically required for nations to be interesting as there's only really a few cheese strategies available to nations with the default focus tree due to the guarantee system. People complaining about "meme focuses" are prioritizing history > gameplay to a fault. Giving Poland nukes through focuses doesn't matter because nukes do very little in this game. They're glorified confetti bombs that are better suited to sniping individual airports than anything else. The amount of uproar the recent Poland dev diary had was ridiculous.
With some exceptions (most notably the achievements), using the word "meme" to describe HoI4 kinda annoys me. For me a meme has to be a well-established internet reference of humoristic nature. So as long as they stick to quality history-references, I don't mind, even if some ideas do seem far-fetched.

Grumpiness aside, I do agree with that point. Sure, there could be a few more branches of lighter alt-history, but I feel that all these whack routes really do give the player options and help break the monotony of a stricter WWII-sim. When playing on non-historical, you never know who's gonna fight who, nor how, and as such you're always on your toes. Really exciting!

And the nukes... they are what they are, but they are fun! And they also help speed up the end-game a bit. So if they ever rework nukes (which they should), I hope they keep the old style available as an option. It would also be cool if the AI used them more. I'm still dissapointed that the off-map reactor was removed though, but there are mods for that, right?

- Game can finally be uncensored, considering the historical art in Steel division 2.
-Game is working sort of fine, with greatest exemption being Barbarossa dynamic completely off.
-Naval balance is sort of right: Surface navy is useless after 1940 aviation enters naval game, gunboats are useless, subs, ASW, AA and carriers sort of rule the game, even if Carriers have issues.
-Large air planes need serious reduction to their survivability.

My unpopular opinion would probably be (as you might see in my signature) that I want to see ahistorical content with a big A.

Like plasma-rifles that can penetrate all types of armor in use at the time, or maybe new production techniques and/or alloys that make landcruisers viable? Basically fantastic technologies that turn the game on its head when you think the outcome is set. Preferably RNG-based so you don't know what'll come.

Or maybe something else entirely. I am open to many things, just as long as they provide a fun twist to the game.

(EDIT) I should however clarify that more and better historical content is what I think should be highest priority at the moment. It should also be somewhat optional, but maybe nukes could use the same system?

That is what he does.
The amount of people with USSR flags or a Soviet-related person pressing disagree on my comment proves my point just right. There are loads of communists on these forums and the internet in general, and they won't have their murderous daddy Stalin criticized.

Besides, you're just calling me a troll because I disagreed with you in the thread about introducing food, lol.

Mine: Default focus tree is the best focus tree. The newest trees feel too railroaded and they take too long to get through the “fix our domestic situation”. Just let me research 1944 airplanes and tanks in ‘39!!!!!

I don't get why tno is so popular. Besides the dead horse that is the ui, and the fundamental problem of matching visual novel storytelling to hoi4s core gameplay, the stories and setting are just so edgy. It's like some 12 year old's sasuke uchiha x shadow the hedgehog slashfic level of edge. The axis won the war so the oceans of the world turned blaaaaaaack. It's at best unengaging and at worst insulting. Honestly the entire mod would be better off as a collection of alternate history horror stories.

Edit: it is, imo, the 50 shades of hoi4 mods. Wildly popular for no discernable reason.
Never played TNO but its map is super aesthetically pleasing

I'm very far from being a stalinist still i'd more prefer the stalinist version of the USSR anthem as it's just more immersive but it will not happen as the new focus tree for USSR will have non-stalinist branches while still maintaining the Comintern.

Kid, I've posted from one side of this subforum to the other. I've seen a lot of strange stuff. But I've never seen anything to make me believe that there's even a single Stalinist user posting anywhere on the Hearts of Iron boards.

There are a few communists, I'm sure. Socialists, certainly. Democratic liberals/moderates/conservatives, plenty. Even self-professed monarchists and more than a handful of the far right (supporters of Alternative for Germany, for instance, or sympathizers of Oswald Mosley). But when the HoI community gets up in arms about anthems and such, it's usually more about a pedantic, nitpicky insistence on historical accuracy, rather than anything ideological.

I can't speak for every corner the Internet of course, but I'd say you're safe from the NKVD here. As far as flags go, you're welcome to complain about Soviet banners and what they represent, but, obviously, you fly that of the Ustaša. I'd assume that means nothing other than a preference for playing Croatia in game.

Starting your post with "kid" sure does affirm your maturity and prepares us for the quality of your argument.

Talk about double standards. When any other political group complains about something (a missing song etc.) on the forums it's ideologicaly driven, but in the case of communist/Stalinist scum it's only "nitpicking" and they are good innocent players wanting historical accuracy.

Not my fault Paradox forums don't have the current Croatia flag, since I am from Croatia and would display that if it was an option.

... or any of the PDX forums for that matter.

I never ever have met a single nazi/commie/islamist/monarchist/whatever propagandist here. What people think outside of the forums is irrelevant, they don't want to convert you here, that is the point i think.
