Details are for a future diary, but yeah we have a tool to help you balance production/stockpile/losses in the game :)

Much smiles from over here, these kind of things make a big difference when trying to manage things at a strategic level :).

They have never (in any purely PDS game?) published full military casualty statistics for the war as a whole. AoD and DH had it, but these were done by external companies.

Not for each war, but there are ledger statistics of available manpower and actual army strength for each country, so in a number of instances you could derive them if you were keen enough to. It can be an important piece of information in terms of how long your enemy is likely to be able to sustain the fight. The concept of paying attention to manpower losses of your enemies to gauge sensible future directions isn't new to PDS games, it's just they've never tracked them in-game.

And if he was a girl that cares about HoI, then Podcat would probably not be interested in said girl. :D

Now now, let's not fight over Podcat, we don't want him to get distracted from making the game :).

Gonna get this in before someone oversteps and gets locked...

We are making a game, not a historical simulation or teaching tool about the horrors of war.

Because "manpower" now maps directly to population losses statistics during the war now gives casualty statistics for all sides.
This doesn't mean that we relax forum rules about civilian casualties and other banned topics, because I'm sure they will still lead to tasteless shitposting and nazi/commie apologetics...

I accept this explanation, it makes sense I guess. Maybe i misread the OP but I'm not after information about civilian casualties because that is just tasteless and in my opinion adds nothing to the game. I certainly don't want shitposting about civilian casualties. I was freaking out that manpower losses for our troops after a battle was going to get cut from the game. But my current understanding is it is still going to feature?

I just hope pow stats will be available as well (they can add them to losses). Since although losses on battlefields were huge, but the hit on manpower was just as severe after grand encirclements. HoI3 does not see encirclements as losses only killed, I hope this will be addressed.

Also want to add, that I like the forum rules as they are. I often read during work for example and swastikas are banned here as well (not only Germany), so having the possibility to freely roam the forums is a welcome thing for me at least.

I'm actually concerned by this. I think this kind of information cuts through the fog of war too much. Less ledger information please not more. Nobody in WW2 had even remotely accurate information regarding what they did to the enemy, especially when they were on the defensive. The only accurate numbers tended to be numbers of POW. It's AFTER the war that these numbers start to come out.

IMO, best compromise would be random% error margin which would be eliminated over next several months - after all radio intercepts, intelligence and other sources would provide reallistic picture after some time.

I agree, but I would still like to be able to see statistics at some point. Perhaps one possible option would be to gain access to the statistics when peace is concluded/enforced, or when the game ends. I liked how this was dealt with in the independent EU3 Suite. It added something to the immersion and made the game feel more awarding.

Show me estimates ingame and true numbers after the game and I'm happy :) . I agree, and I always felt it immersion-breaking how I could open the ledger in eu3 and see the exact number of troops of every other nation.

This.

I don't want that information during gameplay (or at least 100% accurate), but after the game is over, I want it in depth and accurate. Its like a kill cam for an FPS or a damage parser for an MMO.

I have no problem with a fog of war type inaccuracy during game and accurate stats upon competition, infact it would be kind of cool but I want accurate stats atleast for my own nation whilst playing. I'm sure nations didn't have 100% up to date accurate stats even about their own loses but I imagine it's close enough for it to be plausible. The thing is I don't want to have to wait till the wars over to know how I'm doing and I don't think it's sacrificing much realism to know. Now estimates for the enemies until the war is over I'm happy with.

It should be very simple to add the option: 100% accurate in-game OR guesstimate based on intel-level.
That would satify both camps. Remember the value of accurate numbers for AARs.

Isn't there a whole ledger of land, air and sea manpower and IC losses in HoI3? Like everything else in HoI3, it just need to be made manageable, not cut altogether.

i hope they bring back the hoi2 casualty system where i can see casualties during battles
or they could ante up and show us how many men/units, casualty sustain/inflict rate of fronts
The world is bigger than Germany. Paradox is basically applying German law to all their customers even if they don't live in Germany. If Paradox were a German company or based in Germany I would understand. But even all this nonsense recently about not even displaying Hitler's portrait in the politics menu (or a portrait with him wearing an iron cross), it's just self-censorship gone mad.
agreed
oh btw that cross removed because that was knight's cross and hitler didnt earned that
