well if the minors are Ireland and Mexico I will be pissed. That's what quite a few do.![]()
The Free Corps were apparently SS units formed from POWs and whatnot, as far as I could tell from Wiki. Someone more history-savvy will probably elaborate on this or correct me.hm didn't expected the US tree so fast. What about the other countries I want to know whether to look forward to them a bit/a lot or whether to rant on the forums.
The German "Frei-Korps" (literally "Free Corps") were volunteer (somewhat paramilitary) units (usually light infantry but sometimes including cavalry) raised from the time of Frederick the Great and the Napoleonic wars up to the Interbellum. Quite an old tradition and not neccesarily related to the SS. The most famous of the Freikorps was the Lützow Freikorps, raised during the Wars of Liberation (1813-1814) against Napoleon (they were all dressed in black by the way, they were nicknamed the "Black Band"). Back then they fought for the Kingdom of Prussia. But of course during the Weimar Republic several paramilitary Freikorps units were raised to fight against the Communists, usually consisting of veterans from WW1.The Free Corps were apparently SS units formed from POWs and whatnot, as far as I could tell from Wiki. Well there were no US free corps in the German army and even then they would be formed through the waffen-ss division decision system already in place. This is definitely from the US National Focus tree. The Free Corps were apparently SS units formed from POWs and whatnot, as far as I could tell from Wiki. Given this, however, this is more likely to be a feature of the German tree than a US national focus.
Not to mention the national focus has American flag on it, there's no way in hell this is for Germany.Well there were no US free corps in the German army and even then they would be formed through the waffen-ss division decision system already in place. Because the Germans never invaded the US? In HOI4, you can.Well there were no US free corps in the German army
That's a better point. Not to mention the national focus has American flag on it, there's no way in hell this is for Germany.
Reading in on the German-American Bund and the Silver Legion of America's activities in America is quite interesting as a footnote of history. It's just one of those cool things to know about.I'm hoping this involves the German-American Bund. Maybe it could connect to the training camps they had in Wisconsin and New York? I did a lot of research on them and their activities for an exhibit at my city's Jewish Museum this year.
It would be interesting if you had focuses related to raising militia units from various far right and far left groups be it the Bund, Silver Legion or CPUSA.
After all, if there is one word that Americans love its 'Free' and 'Freedom', so it's not out of the realm of possibility that an American organization would name itself the 'Free Corps"
Speaking of the Silver Legion, I always found it odd they picked them for the fascist party. I have struggled on finding any in depth material on them. The silver guns make me think of the fascist Silver Legions....
Because they sound cool probablySpeaking of the Silver Legion, I always found it odd they picked them for the fascist party. I have struggled on finding any in depth material on them.
I think they were chosen over the Bund because they aren't directly affiliated with foreign nations and therefore non-German nations could puppet the US and it'd be less weirdSpeaking of the Silver Legion, I always found it odd they picked them for the fascist party. I have struggled on finding any in depth material on them.
