Great. Now we can have stupid internet meme wars within the game, too. I was thinking we didn't have enough of that IRL.
they can't because it would show how awful the ww2 experience is.When's the last time PDX did a playthrough that didn't involve alt-history focuses and early wars? There was that one with LaR as England in February 2020 where the player let France fall without a fight and then capitulated Germany in 1942, but before that? The developer and YouTuber MP event in 2016, I think?
EDIT: Actually the first Three Day War event from June 2016 also involved things like the USSR invading Turkey in 1937.
Has PDX ever done a "historical" playthrough of HoI4 (in the sense of not making ahistorical choices the AI wouldn't make specifically on "historical mode"), besides the UK AAR (if we can include that)? I had a recollection of a dev MP doing a somewhat historical game back in 2016, but I might have been thinking about the Three Day War event.

In my memory it was rather historical (except that the US heavily focused on the Pacific with advanced fortified naval/air bases in Guam and Midway).
Good point, would love to see this. I can take smaller things like the Soviets taking Turkey before Barbarossa, though, as long as it mostly follows the events of WWII.When's the last time PDX did a playthrough that didn't involve alt-history focuses and early wars? What diaries are we still missing? Modding, AI improvement, Achievements, Music/Art. What else?
Well guys, do you think we're close to the end? I really hope that the release date will be shown tomorrow., as well as the start of dev streams, pre-orders and all...
How many diaries do you think we have left? I think 4-5, considering tomorrow. Achievements, formables and releasables, arts, AI and possibly modding. Modding may come out with a patchnote right before the update, as it did with LaR.
While I'd also be worried, I'd rather not put this kind of pressure for a release date, lest we get another Leviathan situation.I really hope so. If we don't get a release date this month, I'm going to have some doubts about the productive effeciency and ambition of the dev team on this DLC. One of my worries for this DLC is that it is going to be too big, and take too much time to develop (to the community's liking). I think we are approaching the date that community starts to get impatient over the release of NSB, and really hope the dev team (expecially marketing) realize this. If I don't get more info on this DLC by the end of the month, I'm going to start asking questions.
I would say your right. There surely cannot be that many more, but as they've shown last week they could do more AAR DDs. I like them, but at the same time, they feel like their padding the time the team needs. That's fine, but it raises the standard at which this DLC will release at, something that I think PDX should be cautious about considering recent releases and their general history of poor releases.

Ideally, if they are facing issues and it can't be released on time, they'd be open to us, but I don't think that is up to devs themselves.
The funny thing ist that people take BfB as the last DLC. However BfB was actually subcontracted and the work on NSB already started way before.Agreed, but do keep in mind that we've planned for delay and we are now approaching one year since the last DLC/CP. I'd love the team to take their time, but it would be nice to communicate an ETA for DLC soon.
if they are in development hell, a few more months won't do any good. Better release it and improve it with customer feedbackhonestly I want it rather yesterday than tomorrow, but if they say, we want to work on the AI for a few months more, really balance the new features and stuff so we will release only next year I would be fine with that. This is the biggest and in my opinion most important update, so they should take their time.
Actually this. From our experience we know that between their internal tests and the actual gameplay is a lot of difference, since the players have much more diverse approaches to playing the game than the small set of testers they have. So as long as there is nothing game-breaking in it, it should be ready for release and then rather a couple of good post-patches to work it up.if they are in development hell, a few more months won't do any good.
