I think that they'd make the Sov tree all communist, but if you screw up the purge or somth else, the civil war errupts and you can join the rebels, getting a new tree and non-commie options with it. Two countries: two focus trees. Similar to Spain.

Hm true, using a civil war that folds into the world war could be a solution for that.

That would be quite hard, as those are often the focal point of these FTs, the whole point of the path being a war against communism.

If Russia is going to have a fascist or a monarchist path, then the focuses requirements could be updated so that they still work.
If there's a democratic path for Russia, then yes, it wouldn't work. But having both Germany and Russia go democratic in the same game would be quite boring.

I dunno, communism has been seen as the boogeyman of all ideologies since forever, I don't think it makes sense to apply the same logic to monarchist or even fascist, especially given how the nations getting the focus to attack Russia often are monarchist or fascist themselves.

I think that the devs are going towards light/plausible althistory which is pretty good because they will put more work into historical focuses and if you want crazy althistory you could go on the workshop

The cossack king and Finno-Ugra are good examples of that.

Communism was scary to the people in power as they feared uprising from their own workers, but that does not mean that fascist or monarchists wont make war against each other.

Well that doesn't mean much, for example on previous years you had the radio packs and then additional music in the DLC.
