I think the Q&A already confirmed they weren't adding coal. We already have oil derived fuel in the game, and in my opinion it wouldn't make sense to add coal for just trains.

No but it would make sense for raw material production. Availability of coal was directly applied to how much steel you could make which then effected everything else you could make. Even for the Luftwaffe the largest raw material was steel for all the bombs, bullets, shells, and rockets they needed.

The problem is that coal was not a limiter for most countries, the only one I can think of some relevance that had a lack of coal was Sweden. It's a bit much to make a resource that only one country cares about.

Coal transportation was the issue with Germany but with other countries to. They could emulate this and cap a but how much you industralize the country.

Go read the wages of destruction. You'll find coal was even one for the Germans.

That's fair enough, but you have to weigh it against the fact that it's another resource for not just the player to manage, but also the AI. So it has a corresponding performance hit as well as a hit to how well the AI provides a challenge.

We need to start showing the USSR focus tree. If other countries have caused a fire, then what will happen when the USSR is shown? Atomic explosion of butt pain. The sooner the new tree is shown, more time will be available for changes.

The sooner the new tree is shown, more time will be available for changes.
Showing the focus tree may allow for some simple changes. But too many believe if they complain, they will get design changes. The toxicity of those complaints poisons the whole process.

Greater Arabia basically meant Iraq, Peninsula and Syria, Jordan, Palestine
Basically anyone who isn't British or French in Mashriqi (Eastern) Arabia, for simplicity's sake.

If Britain refuses to handover the second time, maybe the Japanese would help us, haha....

But in my mod, i create peaceful conditions for the event where Britain would agree to handover their bases in Asia if Egypt is in direct threat, in exchange for me joining the Allies. Also France too for Syria, if Ile de France isn't in their full control (Paris is directly threatened).

The problem is that coal was not a limiter for most countries
for the UK at least, coal was an issue in that:
1. Coal mining required a lot of able-bodied workers, that would also be needed for factories, and the armed forces.
2. The infrastructure of the UK struggled with moving the required amounts of coal around the country by rail, because:
3. The infrastructure of the UK was set up for delivering coal by coastal shipping, which was not possible due to Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine interdiction.

There wasn't a shortage of coal in the UK, it was just that getting it where it was needed was a problem.

I think that the devs are going towards light/plausible althistory which is pretty good because they will put more work into historical focuses and if you want crazy althistory you could go on the workshop

I think that the devs are going towards light/plausible althistory which is pretty good because they will put more work into historical focuses and if you want crazy althistory you could go on the workshop
I don’t know, as time has gone on and new DLC are released, the focus trees seem to get crazier and crazier.

let’s just say, I think the Soviet fanboys and Soviet haters are probably going to be equally butt hurt by whatever PDS produces.

(“PDS is a bunch of closet commies blah blah blah”, and “PDS is making the Soviet Union looks just as bad as Nazi Germany blah blah blah, etc.”)

for the UK at least, coal was an issue in that:
1. Coal mining required a lot of able-bodied workers, that would also be needed for factories, and the armed forces.
2. The infrastructure of the UK struggled with moving the required amounts of coal around the country by rail, because:

There wasn't a shortage of coal in the UK, it was just that getting it where it was needed was a problem.
This is true, but that was the same for everyone and without a shortage so is it just a tedius task to add to the game. It does add realism, but it does not add any fun or even challenge. If a good automated option is made then it may as well not be in the game, making all the resources spent to add it a total waste.

Might be just WIP, but the snippet of the tree they showed at PDXCON doesn't seem to have an alternate path to communism, just several flavors of it.

They might be thinking on the same lines as when they didn't give Germany a communist tree, the eastern front is so central to the game that anything but a communist Russia would make it very uninteresting.
Not to mention, it'd also break almost all other FTs as well, most of them reference the USSR, directly using communism as the reason for either becoming an enemy or an ally.
People (me included) always thought Tsarist Russia would be a given, but that might not be the case after all.
Can't say for sure, we'll have to wait and see.

I think that they'd make the Sov tree all communist, but if you screw up the purge or somth else, the civil war errupts and you can join the rebels, getting a new tree and non-commie options with it. Two countries: two focus trees. Similar to Spain.
