Well obviously it's 50-50 on Soviets vs Italy, there literally isn't any other choice left. That said I expect the Soviets.
There's lots of choices left, both big and small. Latin America, the Pacific war, various other fields to explore, and for that matter lots of content packs. That's just off the top of my head.

For example, on the topic of fields to explore, I think I would buy an air war DLC that added an MtG-style aircraft designer, lots of 2D and 3D models and art, and fleshed out the air war part of the game in general.

For those that believe it's the Soviets next, remember they've stated that they can't do the Soviet Union until the mechanics they need are fully in place. If it was only the resistance mechanics, then perhaps it could be the Soviet Union. But if there's more still to be done, say how supply is handled, then I say it'll be Italy first.

I'll admit they both need revision, but the Soviet Union has a much bigger impact on any given game. Then again, I'll be happy with anything that moves the game closer to "complete".

As the chances of them putting out a DLC / update that doesn't overhaul at least one Major power is pretty much zero, there is only two real choices.

I'm always up for more content. I wish we got more flavor pack type DLCs in between expansions like with Stellaris
I think the game still has some quite glaring issues they need to fix in big expansions (peace conferences is an absolute must, and logistics also needs an overhaul, as well as frontline AI strategy) before moving on to smaller flavor packs.

For those that believe it's the Soviets next, remember they've stated that they can't do the Soviet Union until the mechanics they need are fully in place. If it was only the resistance mechanics, then perhaps it could be the Soviet Union. But if there's more still to be done, say how supply is handled, then I say it'll be Italy first.
Why can't they rework the mechanics they need on an expansion with the Soviets?
I think it'd actually make much more sense to do that.

I think it is almost a given that land combat should be reworked along the Soviets. So things like logistics should be fixed before land combat and the Soviets roll out.
Depending on what they do, they could very well do both.
LR, for example, had the resistance and occupation reworks and a whole new system of espionage.
And both of these are in theme with the Soviets, so there's that.

That's true. However, resistance and occupation are frankly two minor mechanisms, so it's easier to fit both in the same time.
If they are really reworking land combat, I sincerely hope that to be a big, major one.

Agree completely. The Soviets could be the "best for last". That being said I think the devs might preempitvly seek to do the USSR because they know the community will complain every time it isn't. Better to do it now than have the community at your throat for a two years. Which is all the more reason we should be calm and simple wait to see what Dan shows us on Wednesday.

I believe next Wednesday some type of cosmetic dlc or skins will be announced and it will come accompanied by a small post.
There will be a review of how the game is currently and they may put the interview they did to the developers made on Reddit at the launch of the last dlc of the Resistance where they talked a little about the future dlc and where you could walk this and that I still believe there has not been a dev on this topic.

People remember that 1.10 won't be a dlc patch right? Like, they always do a free patch between dlcs, and there's no reason why they wouldn't now for no reason.

I'm hoping for some resource changes, particularly food and reworking steel to where the Scandinavian countries matter.

Right now 90% of the world doesn't matter at all. Why conquer/defend Scandinavia? They offer nothing. The Raj? Same beyond busted up divisions. Africa is totally worthless beyond Suez.

I don't think a new DLC will be announced so soon. They made that mistake with Man the Guns, which was announced May 2018 and it came out at the end of February 2019. It would only make sense to announce a DLC at this point if the development cycle for it is going to be faster and we see release within the year.

I expect a diary on technical stuff and maybe a little teaser of future content/mechanics.

Honestly, I know how screwed up Italy and SOV are, but this game is a bloody mess. It’s far from unplayable, but I really wish they’d commit to fix/balance the current focus trees and address all the AI issues...I’m not really confident they’ll revisit these things after SOV and ITA get DLC...

edit: I feel much the same way about Stellaris, though Stellaris doesn’t have the equivalent of the focus tree problems.

Also, maybe I’ve been willfully blind to this notion, but PDS seems to be operating more and more under the philosophy of adding features that don’t exactly work well with previous features and mechanics(many of which that didn’t quite work either)...and there’s no way they are ignorant of this.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt though and assume there are reasons, probably opportunity cost related, that prevent them from addressing these issues as quickly as we players like.

And I’ll be honest that I’m still salty over the fact that the USA, a major power, wound up with a focus tree that was obviously a chore to make( Designed on a dearth of knowledge about 1930s USA history and filled in with stale memes) as opposed to Mexico and Netherlands which were made with a lot of tender love and care. Edit: also, all the DoD trees need some serious updating after SOV gets a new tree.

Yeah, I hope they start consolidating after the next DLC, fixing, balancing, and working on what's already in the game rather than just adding more stuff (which also doesn't work properly) on top of it.

AI issues are constantly being addressed, though. Not sure why people keep thinking otherwise.
