Hey I know people are asking for Finland lots and its looking like its not going to be in barbarossa since the states are not reworked but the Estonian marches are present in the states. I would and many many others would happily wait longer for the dlc if it meant that some true winter war soviet eastern front invasions that heavily involved FINLAND would be added. Finland is so core to the theme of the dlc and to the mechanics that will be added and would work so much better in this dlc than any others. It would be a fantastic addition and really complete the dlc! If the team have decided not to add it then I hope the passion of the players who would love to see what you could do with Finland in this DLC will change your minds! Great work so far!

That feature has been around since wtt, but until LAR only Japan utilised it. LAR Spain and all of the bftb countries also use it.
That explains it: I don't have BftB or LaR (yet). Thank you.

I like the fact that we are getting more actual-historical-political-factions-and-concepts based alternate history rather than a whole bunch of random "restore some medieval nation" nonsense.

So you don't like Byzantine Cataphracts or Macedonian Generals as Greece?

I don't, either.

Big Initial Post

Never imagined the tiny baltic nations could have such big focus trees... Anyway, while I do like extra stuff and distinct national flavour for different countries, I think you are focusing too much effort on focus trees for tiny nations that barely had any strategic importance to the 2 world war, while at the same time dismissing many of those that actually had and were important. And in many cases bloating focus trees (for example Spain) with irrelevant things or near irrelevant things (since I spoke about Spain, I can use the OP idea 'crusade against democracy' which is spread over several focus on its own).

For instance I can't and will not understand why or how you missed the importance of Azores for the battle of the atlantic, or even to undermine American will or support for the war in Europe. If Germany had taken over Azores like some wanted, and used it as a base for the Amerika Bomber project, it could have bombed New York and surrounding areas. While the act itself would cause a tiny impact to the war effort, it would have demoralized heavily the american population (and it would have repercussion on the senate). Also american industry simply wasn't protected from bombers, and a bombing campaign over the US' industry would always have a terrible impact for them.

On the other hand you prefered to add a lot of fantasy alt-history for Portugal while dismissing any military plans the nation had (military plans that existed in theory or those that were implemented) and did not even try to represent the problems that were lived at these times (important problems that actually existed, and not those that existed 10-20 years before game start like you did, lol).

TLDR: I am not asking for "Oh Italy focus please" or "please focus on the big nations first" or stuff like that. Just asking for stuff that was theorically plausible and could have impact to the ww2 to be given priority over fantasy things. A tiny nation with 1 million people on it with extreme poor economy becoming gigantic on its own and annexing parts of a superpower seems extremely unlikely to happen (for multiple reasons), but a plan to bomb the USA and kill big part of their war effort, was always on the table. You added the 'bomb japan' decisions, I don't understand why you don't do similar things for others if they were heavily considerated specially when you decide to burn time in order to add bloated fantasy trees for most irrelevant (or in some cases even relevant) nations. This is, first and foremost, a grand strategy wargame that focuses on ww2. I am not even asking you to remove the bloated trees with fantasy alt-history, just that you PLEASE consider adding PLAUSIBLE alt-history first.

Would it be possible to ask for Kazys Musteikis to not have the Communist Sympathizer trait or to have it be moved to Vincas Vitkauskas? Kazys Musteikis is famous for being the only Lithuanian general to want to resist the Red Army in 1940.

Vincas Vitkauskas, meanwhile, was an actual communist sympathizer and a high ranking general in the Lithuanian army - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincas_Vitkauskas

Would be nice if you guys removed the non-aligned party name for Latvia and just replaced it with ''Ulmanis Government'' or something like that.

''Tautas Padome'' was a political mechanism that served sort of as a ''interim parliament'' until the independence war was won and the first Saeima was established, afterwards it was dissolved.

The mixed Estonian and English in "Vapsid Youth" is quite an eyesore to me. It should probably be something like "Vapsid-noored" but I don't speak Estonian beyond a few words so please correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT: An Estonian further down the thread recommended "Noor-Vapsid"

Also like the fact that the majority of this can never happen without player intervention or is represented by them becoming a puppet or collaboration government which doesn't have as big of a negative impact of the broader map while still having there be something here.

Baltic Nations were considered as possible for Germany. Initial MR pact was about them joining German Sphere too, with intention of using those States as satellites against USSR (regardless if they would like it or not ofc), which would allow Germany to strike far deeper into USSR initially, get to Leningrad and actually change course of war.

They had an important local role to the East Front that shouldn't be neglected. And since the DLC is about East Front, there is no reason to not do them or make small mission trees only to have calls to improve them later.

Of course, all this said, I agree with some of your concerns. Soviet things are THE concern especially. But definitely not warranting dismissing Baltic nations content.

Will I be able to form the Grand Duchy of Lithuania? Is Greater Lithuania only achievable with the fascist path, or will it be achievable with Mindaugas III too?
Yeah if you are not going to be aible to expand with king to the Baltic sea then its not so fun :( if you are only going to be aible make commonwealth and thats it nobody will want king in power. And Grand Duchy is not posible to make and its good beacose its kingdom with a king Mindaugas III. Like Vytautas and others were not kings so it was grand duchy.

Yeah that is how I feel too more or less. I am all for baltic content, sure. But be sure to prioritize what was more important over these nations than fantasy things. I can't speak much about these nations because I never even considerated studying them, but I can say that they missed countless things over others nations and decided to add fantasy things out of the box instead of doing any research in the area.

Yep, they are being demoted to generals.
I apologize, but then I will ask you to demote Grigory Kulik to general (he was given a marshal only in 1940 (and in 1942 he was demoted)) for the USSR (if suddenly you will ever redo it). And in his place, add two marshals: Alexander Yegorov and Vasily Blucher, who were repressed together with Tukhachevsky. So it will be more correct, since they were quite successful military personnel in contrast to Voroshilov and Budyonny. P.S. In the USSR for 1936 there were 5 marshals (Voroshilov, Budyonny, Egorov, Tukhachevsky, Blucher).

3. Civilian factories to start an investigation of the opposition? What's the logic behind that? I hope it isn't another one of these "unique" modifiers, though this isn't all that important anyway.

I believe, money are abstracted as civilian factories. The same as with spending civilian industry on upgrading your spy agency.

there is research going on! Only, it is done by developers, not historians. It is good for gameplay, but bad for plausibility. The problem is, for forum users plausibility is a major ingredient of good gameplay, but it might be not so important for YouTubers and casuals. I guess, from financial point of view they are doing good thing.

But I still doubt putting anisemitic focuses for Poland and ignoring Belarusians's and Ukrainian's money are good business decisions.
