Personally, I think there was definitely a more interesting government mechanic in HoI 3. It's nice if the new larger DLC would typically focus on politics (government, inter-state relations, and other mechanics that were in HoI 3 and not in HoI 4. On these issues, HoI 4 seems to be very truncated).

The Italian DLC could focus on that. Additionally, mission trees for Austria, Switzerland, Albania and default mission trees for countries that are part of Yugoslavia (after potentially leaving them. 2-5 unique missions for a particular country: Slovenia, Bosnia, Macedonia and Montenegro). Serbia and Croatia could, as the largest and most influential nations in Yugoslavia, receive slightly more extensive mission trees.

I think Finland would fit the Scandinavian DLC much better than the Soviet DLC. Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland - that sounds cool.
Instead of Finland, this new update could make Belarus, Ukraine and the Caucasus more attractive - at least a little love, please.....

By writing this I meant that Ukraine and Belarus, for example, may no longer have the opportunity to receive love outside of this DLC. It would be really nice if Finland got love now, but that could cross other regions. A Scandinavian DLC focusing on Sweden, Denmark, Norewgia and Finland could be very attractive. If Finland had now received new missions, it would have taken the place from another country. A Scandinavian DLC based on 4 countries could really be the optimal DLC.

Ukraine and Belarus now have the only opportunity to receive new mission trees. Later no more ...

The Caucasus region could be covered in the Middle East DLC, but it might as well appear in this DLC as well.

Trains are cool, I'm afraind I will waste half of my time just watching them run around instead of paying attention to the frontlines.

Fortunately, according to the gif in the DD, the trains still run even when the game is paused.

Is there any plan for adding more British and French colony tags to be playable?
For example, Mandate for Syria and the Lebanon, French Indochina, French Madagascar and French West Africa in French version of Together for Victory pack.
Also Egypt and British Mandatory Palestine are still missing in game.

Will this dlc add minister/general names to releasable Soviet republics? Kazakhstan recently got a portrait and names, but others like Ukraine, Azerbaijan, etc. are still full of Jim Browns and Bobby Walkers, and they lack historic leader portraits too.

Also curious, Battle of Bosporus added an Azerbaijani general (Hazi Aslanov) that can be recruited by Turkey, if Turks go Soviet way. Since the assets already exist, can you add him to releasable Azerbaijan as well please?

Could the Virumaa and Tartu states be changed to include the Petseri and East Narva areas Estonia had in the interwar period?
I know i asked before, but i've failed to get a dev response.
It would be nice to know if the issue is acknowledged even without an explicit promise of it being implemented...

So, this is where Arheo lands. Thought Vic3 or Stellaris would've been the best fit for him, but so be it! I'm sure the I:R guys will be a great supporting pillar for HoI moving forward.

The Soviet focus tree snippet suggests at least at one additional option which would be the Right Opposition led by Bukharin. If the two options they show are presented as the left opposition, and the Stalinists presented as 'the center', then that logically leaves the Right Opposition to cap it off. If there is a Workers Opposition route with Shliapnikov and Kollontai in addition to that, all the better.

Glad to hear the team is being given resources to expand. It's really needed! I'm sure the community will be happy to hear it as well.

While the main focus is the Eastern Front, how will the new supply system affect other fronts, like the Sino-Japanese War and the North African campaign? Right now, I feel like Japan pushes deep into China and beats it a little too "easily" and the British usually roll over Lybia like it is nothing (sometimes it's Italy that takes the Suez pretty easily, as well as take Central Africa through Ethiopia).

Will the new supply system make these fronts more like stalemates like they were in real-life?

there were little to no railways in lybia, so you nearly completely have to depend on convoys or insane number of trucks, or have to build railway to some degree. Just by representing the situation historically, you would create the supply-hugging tendencies of the armies, where tobruk is the beginning and the end of the offensives.

convoys are also a lot easier target, so attacking convoys can go both ways now

Ah yes, Scandinavia, the Middle-East and Latin America, all regions that the Italian rework would make total sense in. Man the guns and la resistance were both chances to rework Italy that would have been even remotely thematic. Instead we have Portugal and Mexico.

Those were just suggested country packs like DoD and BftB. Country packs don't contain updates of existing trees. Italy will get its own DLC, probably along with a few minor nations in Europe like Albania and Austria.

do you think the soviet tree will be the next dev diary?

Personally i hope that they wait a few weeks while they polish it and add the artwork in, itll be a much better experience seeing it near completion then just seeing the framework

Wouldn't it make more sense if the DLC was called "Not One Step Back"? It's more grammatically correct and there is even a soviet order called the same thing.

I was talking about LaR which came with a revamp on occupations, resistance etc


Details in future supply diary, but there is a way to reroute for you (comes with some tradeoffs)
