Loving the alt history stuff but it seems a bit odd that there's no option for the BUF to ally with Germany. That was historically a large part of Mosely's agenda .

This sounds really cool!

The communist tree sounds good (there should potentially be a special case for what they do with India in terms of making it a dominion (new communist name for it) and using it as an anti-colonial launchpad. And a focus for helping in the Spanish civil war :)

More importantly, after the Japanese communist tree’s implementation, please really put time into making sure the communist tree is satisfying and balanced. Losing your entire army, Air Force, and navy, a civil war that lasts until 1941, and focuses as a reward that give very minor bonuses, isn’t fun.

Will you remove the event that gives the UK a free wargoal on Yugoslavia without a warning as well? That one ruined every attemtped Allied run as Yugoslavia for me so far.

This was intentional. It was an unlikely scenario so we wanted the player to really have to work for it - it's intended to be one of the most difficult paths in HoI4.

That makes more sense for South Africa than a major naval nation. There were also a lot of issues with ever being able to retake Manchuria both because you were too weak and because everyone else’s trees would preempt you. It also seems like the communist trees are usually the hardest. I understand wanting it to be difficult but Manchuria is a good example of a hard tree that is fun and has satisfying content and pace.

@Bratyn

now sure how to describe this bug exactly but would be nice if you could fix it, where since 1.5 focus tree connecting lines have some weirdness to them, which your new UK tree also shows

for example before, a focus that required one of two focuses had dotted lines connecting to it, but now it has one 'hard' line and one dotted line

also there are weird line cut-offs at corners

i think this started when you added dynamic focus trees where you can enable branches via DLC

if you guys could fix this so it looked like it did before then that would be great, but there's some visual ugliness/glitches in focus trees now

I'd say turning Romania or Hungary Communist would be just as hard in reality, but in their Focus Trees it is incredibly easy. Not even a civil war against the staunch anti-communists that dominated their armed forces and governments!

idk if you are doing any map work for this update but with a focus on the UK it'd be good if you could properly split rhodesia into northern and southern, and maybe add nyasaland too

Hi @Bratyn ,
Great DD, all the new stuff looks awesome, and I really appreciate the added options to the democratic path in particular. Though I am a bit disappointed that the "Mediterranean Bastion" and "Fortify East Asia" branches are still unchanged. They are IMO the most uninspired and useless parts of the orginal focus tree. I mean 3 consecutive focuses just to get a few fortifications in Hong Kong and another 3 for Singapore? Who even uses these?

Also it seems a little bit strange that the "intervene in Benelux/Scandinavia/Middle East" focuses are locked behind the appeasement policy rather than the interventionist one.

Apologies for many questions @Bratyn but is any work being put into the relations between Iraq and Iran and the UK? As Iraq was de-facto a puppet of the British Empire after WW1- and the UK had control of Iranian Oil in different ways, or do you believe this- if ever focused on- will be a part of a Middle Eastern rework/update?

I have one question regarding the foreign interventions. Could they be rebalanced to avoid triggering them if you follow historical party popularity. In Belgium, all the fascist parties combined (the Flemish VNV having made a secret pact with Rex) got slightly over 20%.
Therefore the historical result triggers the British intervention and lead to an attack of a democracy against another one. I know that in the base game it's not really a problem considering that only Rex is taken into consideration but it's frustrating to have to play with the consequence of historical adjustments. At least add the possibility of a negotiated intervention: the Belgian government agrees to British terms and the country flips from supporting fascism to repressing it. The only real problem would be the necessity to switch from one political branch to another, something that should be available to countries embracing a new ideology by the grace of a foreign power.

It would very likely be fleshed out more in a hypothetical middle-eastern rework :)

this this so much this. These countries were puppets of the UK in previous Hoi games, so why can't they be now? And honestly when was the last time anybody played Nepal or Oman (not bhutan, I know some people play them for memes)? It would pretty much change nothing. Their resources and manpower is low, England wouldn't really be able to gain much from it. Well, maybe except Nepal because they do have some decent mountaineers, but the Gurkhas did fight in WW2, so this isn't exactly a far fetch. I should also add that Iraq should be an English puppet as well, at least in the 1936 start.

Going against Germany is an integral part of the very basis of plausibility for this path, so no, we will not be adding options to ally with Germany (in fact the AI will become very unwilling to ally with a fascist Britain).
Once he's in power, can he not change his mind? That's what dictators do - hate their enemy one day and shake hands with their new best friend the next, and it seems even more likely since Mosley would have been lying to the public when denouncing Germany.

Not only that, but the fascist path looks insignificant compared to the rest. I'd suggest having an option to ally Germany, invade the USSR, and conquer Ireland, not only to pad it out a bit, but because it seems more plausible.

When Mosley decides to ally with Germany, then if you can think of anyone who might be unhappy enough about that, there can be a civil war which then weakens Britain severely so as to maintain balance in among the factions, and possibly results in the anti-Mosley side which loses seeking shelter in the United States, promoting an earlier invasion of Europe (or shelter in Canada, where they're still able to campaign for US support).

Now that would be a fun war to fight. USA+USSR vs UK+Ger+Ita.

Also, there needs to be something representing how parliament is dealt with, whether it be dissolved or made impotent (concerning itself with minor things, but still existing), and what those MPs go and do if they, along with their ancient democracy, are kicked out.
